A house that featured on BBC's Sherlock is up for sale. The consulting detective's family home from the TV series has hit the market. Imagine coming home from a busy day at work and finding actor and Hollywood star Benedict Cumberbatch enjoying a mug of tea at your kitchen table. Stumble into your living room in shock, and there’s the star of The Hobbit series of movies, Martin Freeman, relaxing on your sofa. This was the scenario for one family when their beautiful Grade II* listed house, called Trewallter Fawr, was used as iconic detective Sherlock Holmes' family home. The house, which is now on the market for £950,000, featured in the internationally popular BBC Cymru Wales series Sherlock. In the episode called His Last Vow in series three, Sherlock (Cumberbatch) and Dr John Watson (Freeman) join Sherlock’s parents for Christmas. The scenes filmed at the historic Vale of Glamorgan home also featured Sherlock’s brother Mycroft, played by series co-writer Mark Gatiss, John Watson’s wife Mary (Amanda Abbington) and drugs specialist Bill Wiggins (Tom Brooke). In a delightful twist Sherlock’s parents are played by Benedict’s actual parents, celebrated theatre and television actors Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton. The owner of Trewallter Fawr, who prefers to remain anonymous, says: “It was very special seeing the Sherlock family hanging out in our home; we did think the family suited the home very much. “The episode was based at Christmas time so when it was filmed in August they decorated it with Christmas decorations and lit the fires and dressed it with Sherlock belongings.” And Cumberbatch, who is soon to star as Doctor Strange in the eagerly awaited Marvel Studios’ film Avengers: Infinity War, was not surprisingly the total opposite of the regularly rude consulting detective, Sherlock. Trewallter Fawr’s owner comments: “Both he and Martin Freeman were extremely nice and were very friendly and generous with their compliments of the house. “Even though we and our children were quite star struck, they behaved normally and made us feel relaxed very quickly. “The cast and crew were extremely sensitive to the fact that it was our home, and therefore treated it with enormous respect. “They would mainly focus on one room at a time, so we were able to use other parts of the house during the filming. “They did however film a great deal in the kitchen, so we ate out a lot!” It’s elementary that any house hunter looking for a unique property in this price bracket would consider the historic Trewallter Fawr, thought to date back to the early 17th century. Downstairs the characterful family home has three reception rooms, one with a formal dining area, a garden room and a quirky curved kitchen. Upstairs the home offers new owners 6 bedrooms spread over two floors. Within the 1.4 acres of grounds there are outbuildings which include a two-storey, multi-purpose coach house. Oh, and an old style red telephone box on the patio. The home has been loved by the current family since 1971, and over the years they have gently brought the period property back to life. Although the iconic Sherlock characters based on author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic books are long departed, the house remains of interest to Sherlock super fans. The owner says: “We were surprised when some passionate fans turned up, having followed the stars from China and Finland.”

I can’t help thinking about TSO4 when I think chase, like a modern redo of that horrendous boat chase. But of course there are so many parts of canon a chase could fit into, per your comment, and of course especially Silver Blaze.

Generally, if you want to check out the summary of what we knew for S3, I’d look at Ruther’s storify. But really, it doesn’t seem necessarily any more secretive than before, and I think that we as a fandom get hungrier and hungrier for information, and new people join the setlock scavenger hunt each year, and rumours/panic/misinformation gets spread, so it might seem that way. There will be an element of them trying to keep things hidden, but there always is, and they’re getting just a bit better about knowing how to go about it and what elements to protect. (But since I wasn’t here feel free to say I’m wrong XD)

During the TAB post-mortem interview the host asked if the titles would be revealed similar to when the letters where revealed for s3 and it sounded like they said it would be, but I wouldn’t put it past them to do it in slightly different ways…I guess we’ll see!
