I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but is John’s new look (hair, watch, etc) meant to remind us of “Weight loss, hair dye, Botox; affair?”

I thought he wasn’t a man who spent money on luxury items. With a new baby and everything, where could the watch have come from? Even expecting a baby fucks up your financials for a couple years. Maybe it’s not really there. Maybe John’s been working as an agent with Mycroft and is being paid quite well? Maybe it’s compensation from their cases?

I liked the more humble John. I like his appearance and style, sure, but not necessarily the implications it has in terms of money. Nothing is as it seems so I suppose this may be true there as well.

I also like Alibi Theory :p

When I was a kid, my stepdad started fixing up his appearance when he cheated on my mom. He was always a douche/didn’t seem to measure up to my expectations of him, but I thought a bit less of him after that whole thing. It wasn’t a good look (even though he was more conventionally handsome with the style improvements). I guess I like self expression a lot when it’s tied to who you are at your core.

Blerg. I wish I didn’t find it so easy to dislike John Watson. I want it to be easy to like him again! I wish I could always see him the way I see him in ASiB/Hounds/TRF.
