On one hand, I think Aemond and Simon's scene was beautiful and I loved the emotions pouring through Aemond's eye and the dissociation after he stabs the older man.
On the other hand, I do wonder why would Simon even approach Aemond in such manner. He did not do similar thing with Daemon on first sight (and the outcome would've likely been the same lol), yet, here he thought to approach aggressive intruder and just...touch him.
Let alone, Aemond is Prince Regent (or self-styled "King"), so probably unaccustomed to someone just...going right up at him and placing their hands on him. I found it a little weird Simon just casually strolled to him as if they knew each other and he knew Aemond's deep seated need for parental love.
Aemond is a stranger to him. Simon is stranger to Aemond. The scene definitely evokes Marcus Aurelius-Commodus and Han-Kylo Ren vibes, but without actual substance that made those scenes matter.
