Does anyone else feel,, off?? About Modco for sims 4 cc as a user? Like, the 10 file an hour limit makes cc shopping so hard, especially when some posts are a set ;_; and having to pay to be able to download more at once, to me, feels kind of??? Icky? Shady? I don't know how to word it.
I could maybe understand if there was a little bit of a wait time (say, 10 seconds) between clicking download and the file actually downloading and still have the ability to download an unlimited amount of files like on TSR, but... nope. You're just stuck to the set amount of ten files an hour unless you pay a subscription fee for the ability to download more. The fact that so many of my favorite CC creators have moved there makes it difficult for me to use their newer content and avoid that site at the same time and that's so frustratinggg
If it were "regular" mods, like, things that change how your game functions, then maybe a set file limit per hour would make a little more sense, but when it's like, cosmetic files for character creation or furnishing a house (stuff that people tend to mass-download/shop for "in bulk")... I can't get behind it. It reeks of trying to profit off of something that shouldn't really be monetized in the first place. "Let's make money off of the amount of custom content people can download for their game at a given time"???
Not to mention you *have* to create an account to download files? Which, not really something that's necessarily problematic, but??? I've never seen any other site that FORCES you to create an account if you want to download sims 4 content? Granted, I don't use many sites, so that could just be me- but this is still something that had me raising an eyebrow when I first went to download some furniture for my game from that site.
I wish creators could find a different alternative, modco isn't very accessible unless you're willing to pay for it, and I don't think they'd be willing to change how their site functions since it brings them money. :/
Was about to hit post, but I need to add this: In all honestly, rather than giving me a new place I can find them and download their content from, modco's limit has been actively driving me away from cc creators that are on there. As of writing this, I can remember at least five different occasions within the past month that I have tried to download content from creators there, only to get throttled by modco's limit, and proceeded to completely forget about downloading those files while I was waiting for the limit to reset. And I wouldn't be surprised if I've had more of those moments before. So... if anything, I feel like it might bring more harm to creators than good via losing their "F2U" players. (F2U is the best way I can think to word it really, but I mean people who AREN'T paying the subscription to not have the download limit)
