Been thinking a lot about fem!adajima and how girldachi is definitely still a misogynist, more so in an internalised homophobia way than anything else. She hates 'attention-whoring' women because she's attracted to them, she hates women in relationships because she's not one of them, and she especially hates her 'bitchy subordinate' at work because 'she's probably just jealous that a younger woman works here too, right? All older women secretly hate younger, more attractive girls because they're past their prime now. It's a real good thing her husband died, because soon enough he would've left her for a prettier, more youthful girl.'
But she can't help but wonder what she does when she goes home at night, laying in her just as empty bed after knowing what it was like to feel the weight of another next to her, forgetting what the loneliness was like until the familiarity of intimacy got stripped away from her all so suddenly. Does she also stare up at the ceiling, wondering what the point of all of this is too? Does her mind go to the same place- wondering if her dim-witted, incompetent co-worker could fill that empty spot? She'd probably have been a way better husband than him, she couldn't imagine it would be hard to satisfy her needs, especially now that she had been alone for some time since her husband died. Adachi couldn't imagine Dojima had ever gotten around to seeing anyone after, she worked all the time and drank her sorrows away during any of the small amounts of free time she had. Not a date in sight.
But why was she thinking about this anyway? Blame it on all the downtime together, that was her usual line of thinking. 'We're always alone together and that asshole is never off my back. If anything, it seems like she's coming onto me. What a slut.' She never pulled away though, she never resisted any of the drunken, mishap leans against her shoulders, any of the overly friendly hands rested on her thighs, if anything she welcomed it, awaited for the next time the haze of alcohol could be either of their given excuses not to act like normal colleagues would. Sometimes it even crossed her mind how much she wished they'd graduate above this, have moments like these sober, moments neither of them could hide behind the curtain of substances to have.
But for now, Adachi would just tell herself she secretly hated her subordinate, that the strong surge of passion she felt towards the other woman was just resentment. Bitter, pungent resentment. That was it. Nothing else.
