Hey tumblr you're the ones who get sneaky previews before anyone else so uhhh here's a character you haven't seen before (not clearly at least)
my first word was apparently hemoglobin. there’s not really much to this story, i just slapped some nonsense syllables together when i was a baby and it sounded like ‘hemoglobin’. obviously i didn’t know the meaning of it, but my parents considered it my first word. (fyi hemoglobin is a blood plasma or somethin)
new ryn lore tidbit i just remembered! so, there’s a really cool science museum near where I live. It’s got all sorts of interactive exhibits, and they even do summer camps there. anyway, over with some of the other weather-related exhibits, they have a green screen (or rather wall) setup where you can get in front of a camera there and pretend to be a meteorologist, and there’s a TV screen that’ll show you your lines. After you’ve finished whatever segment you choose, you can type in your email on a touchscreen below the TV, which is the same screen you select which weather type to report on. It gives you an option to add a message, I think, and then emails it to you. Now, what they probably didn’t anticipate is that one time after i had a particularly bad meltdown at a summer camp there, back when I’d have a meltdown about once every month or so, I would get creative with it. (meltdowns for me consisted of crying and escape/evasion tactics in order to not be seen crying by the adults desperately trying to get me back to the group, though i did emerge after a while to avoid causing a panic. that museum has some damn good hiding spots, though, and I probably could’ve stayed hidden for several hours.) Anyway, so I was having a bad time. I’d gotten the camp staff off my tail for the moment, and I decided to use this opportunity to come up with a plan, because what exactly was I supposed to do once I’d successfully evaded them anyway? My best idea was to contact my mother and ask her to pick me up, but I didn’t have a phone back then because I was a kid. But I realized that there was another station nearby where people could make something, pose with it, then have the picture emailed to them on another one of those touch screens like the weather exhibit had. I’m 95% sure I didn’t actually carry out that plan, but I knew my mom’s email, so I definitely could have. I do remember trying to fit a message into character limit of the title box on one of those screens, so I may have started to and then abandoned it, or that might have been a separate thing. Anyway, I did eventually allow myself to be found and return to the group, but if I’d had the guts to go through with it entirely, and if my mom checked her email often enough at the time, I have full confidence it would’ve worked.
