Gonna end 2025 by sharing some WIPs, Concept Arts, and Doodles that I've done this year

Still gotta figure out their exact designs and personalities before I get to formally introduce them in a post (especially since they'll be showing up on Chapter 1!). But I hope some of the concepts I intended for them (like the Mickey trio and Seven Teens inspos) are noticeable or recognizable enough even in concept sketch forms.

I still can't get the unused concept art of Wish out of my head so I've been reading a lot of rewrites and looking at a lot of Wish redesigns...
So... I got inspired. I'm currently conceptualizing my own Wish "rewrite/redesigns", but with a twist. It's gonna be a spiritual "prequel", cuz idk I feel like being meta since we'll be using the original concepts before the final concepts/decisions made for the final movie XD
Many of my "prequel" characters will be stand-ins for the canon characters! So "Asha" will be renamed "Amala", "Magnifico" will be called "Mamoun", and so on. Think of Pokemon Legends: Arceus regarding the relations of these "OCs" with the canon characters.
Anyway, here are the designs I have so far! I only have the designs for Amala and the Star for now. Hopefully, I can get to draw the other characters soon, especially Mamoun and his wife.
The story will be called "Once Upon a Wish"
Here's an overview of what I have so far... Some details may change if I feel like my other choices serve the story better. (Also, small disclaimer, this is just a veryyy self-indulgent AU made by yours truly, so some details may not be accurate with the canon lore present in Wish)
The story takes place on the same island of Rosas, but from many years ago. If my research is right, canon Wish takes place in the 1200s, so maybe my "prequel" can take place in around the 900s-1000s. Rosas definitely wasn't called Rosas back then, but I'm still figuring out what to call it so I'm just gonna refer to it as "an island".
Amala is a shy, meek, but hardworking apprentice of the island's head sorcerer Mamoun (hence, her color palette looks similar to Mickey's outfit from The Sorcerer's Apprentice). Despite all her hard work in her magic studies, she doesn't really excel at using magic, making a lot of accidents during training. If there's anything she really excels at, it's the act of storytelling (She can draw/animate, sing, and write stories like fairy tales).
Amala also has a little sister Ayah, who I can imagine is the Lilo/Anna to Amala's Nani/Elsa. Ayah is spunky and cheerful, but she has an illness that makes her disabled. The sisters are orphans, but they live under an old family friend they affectionately call Grandpa Dabir. Dabir is a retired bard turned doctor who was part of a troupe with 6 other former bards, all of whom he and the sisters still interact.

(If you’ve been following this AU since last year, you’ll know “Amala” was originally going to be Zahra’s name while the little sister was going to be named “Ayah”. I kinda got attached to the “Amala” name so I decided to give it to the little sister instead haha)
Cheerful and hopeful, Amala has always looked up to her big sister, Zahra. If you ask her, she's the biggest fan of Zahra's little fairytales (yes, higher than Noor themselves!). It was Zahra's stories, which are always full of "childish" hope and love, that helped Amala keep her childlike wonder and positivity despite the circumstances of their family's life. These stories however, influenced Amala to be too much of hopeless romantic who would sometimes annoy Zahra about her love life (and if the current story Zahra is telling has a cliffhanger, she’ll annoy her about the next part of the story).
I like to think a scenario like this would happen between them lmao:
Zahra is very protective of Amala, so she works tirelessly so Amala can have a peaceful and wonderful life where her dreams and wishes can come true. Amala feels the same about her sister, so she tries her best to behave and care of the house whenever Zahra is away doing her work. (Basically a Nani and Lilo dynamic/scenario).
While orphans from a young age, the sisters do have an older guardian who cares for them, their energetic and wise maternal grandpa Sidi Dabir. However, their sidi is growing old and senile, so sometimes even he needed to be taken care of sometimes. (Ill draw his design next and share more info about him soon).
When Noor came along, they and Amala got along really well! As a star spirit full of magic, Noor would sometimes show off their magic and play with Amala, who gets really excited about the fact that there’s a real magical star person right in front of her (and maybe her future brother-in-law, who knows).
Imagining scenarios about her interactions with Zahra and Noor is so fun lol, I can’t wait to show more of her hehe.
Just watched the Frankelda movie since it just got released on Netflix internationally. It's such a visual treat! I love how they used stopmotion, like the "choppiness" makes it feel charming, the characters and world design looks so detailed and maximalist-like, and the utilization of mixed media makes it an overall visual delight! I love the themes about fiction and reality. Frankelda and Herneval look so good and I'd love to see more of them. I kinda find it funny since Frankelda is a writer (love that for her), her love story is basically like a self-insert fanfic LMAO she's so valid for that XD
Overall makes me wanna watch the series since apparently the movie is a prequel to it.

It's been a while since I last shared something from my story so here's young Zahra!

She was so bright-eyed before she lost all of her self-esteem (and an accident involving her parents, and losing her wish, and getting overworked by the royals, and-).
Idk if I ever mentioned this before but she and Noor (my starboy) are technically childhood friends! They only meet in Zahra's dreams, though; they wouldn't meet in person until Zahra turns 18 and sings her grand "I want" song moment. They would get into so many adventures together that would inspire Zahra's crazy little stories hehehe.
I'm still in the process of writing the prologue of my story, which is where we can see the rest of Zahra's backstory. I was gonna finish and release it this month, but school got in the way lmao.
I've just been very busy with some personal and other fandom stuff, but I've been working on the prologue little by little!
So a little update on this au... The prologue is almost ready... I think. I'm just finishing some illustrations/storyboards to accompany it + further editing on the prologue's writing itself.
It's exam week for me this week tho so it may take another while for me to actually finish it XD
