Summary:

Ryan Evans is doing better than ever after a year in college, studying what he truly loves and working part-time at a little coffee shop. One day, Chad Danforth, someone he hadn't seen in a while, makes an appearance there and awakens some of Ryan's memories of the past. Some new information starts to make him see their past interactions with a new light as they start to know each other once more.

Note: Some of these will be during college, and some even post-college (they live happily ever after in my brain, okay-)

Their first kiss was initiated by Ryan, surprisingly. It was also a heat of the moment thing.

^ Ryan and Chad arguing about something and suddenly the tension just boils over and Ryan kisses Chad. When he pulls away Ryan is like "Oh god- Oh my god- I just kissed Chad- wait, is he even gay??- Oh my GOD WHAT DID I JUST DO-" and as he's trying to apologize, Chad just grabs him by the collar and kisses him like a man parched LMAO- (I mean... Ryan's not exactly complaining-)

Ryan is BIG on pet names. He's always calling Chad 'honey' and 'sweetheart', sometimes even 'darling' and 'love' (Chad pretends to hate it but Troy notices how the tips of his ears get red)

Chad doesn't really do pet-names, but the occasional 'babe' might slip out (and in private, he'll call Ryan 'baby' and even 'hot stuff' if he's feeling a bit playful)

When I tell you Mrs. Danforth LOVES Ryan. Like, Chad mentioned the picture of Michael Crawford in their fridge and Ryan was like "OMG I NEED TO MEET HER PLEASE-"

^ Safe to say, Ryan is now besties with his bf's mom💀 Like her and Chad will literally be on the phone and she'll be like "Oh, yeah, how's Ryan doing by the way? Can you put him on the phone?"

^^ As for Mr. Danforth, I feel like it took him a while to come around to Chad being bi, but Mrs. Danforth talked some sense into him. But he still does NOT like when Ryan does jazz hands😭 (basically, he's coming around to Chad being bi, but he does NOT like Ryan. And he and Chad HAVE had fights about this btw)

When they cuddle, Chad is ALWAYS the big spoon

^ and Ryan doesn't complain AT ALL, I mean, he's got muscled arms holding him all safe and secure in shit MY MAN IS LIVING THE DREAM-

^^ BUT, Chad sometimes just- collapses into bed after a game, and Ryan just climbs into bed next to him and holds him, so in those moments he's the little spoon

^ in these moments, Ryan likes to bury his face in Chad's curls and he keeps noting to himself that he has got to ask Chad what shampoo he uses, because his hair smells amazing, and whatever he's using is clearly doing wonders for his hair

And when Chad is the big spoon (which is often, as I've established), he likes burying his face in Ryan's neck because God, whatever cologne he uses smells amazing (and Ryan also has like- baby soft skin. Chad is in heaven LMAO-)

^ Chad will occasionally leave a kiss on Ryan's neck when they cuddle, and Ryan will just turn his head and kiss Chad on the nose (and this leads to them kissing on the lips HEHE)

Ryan sometimes comes to Chad's practices, and as SOON as he enters that gym, Troy and Zeke just grin at Chad and go "oooo here comes loverboy~" (and Chad is quick to remind Troy of Gabriella and he shuts up real quick LMAO-)

Chad isn't as comfortable in his sexuality (yet) as Ryan, so he isn't all that comfortable with pda

^ Troy and Zeke are some of the few people really in the know about Ryan and Chad, so Chad has no problem being affectionate with Ryan in front of them

^^ After games, Chad just breaks away from the team after a while, and everyone's like "where'd Chad go??" but Zeke and Troy know where he is. He went out into the hallway with Ryan so Ryan can give him a big old kiss and tell him he did amazing out there

Hugs where Ryan just leaps into Chad's arms and Chad wraps his arms around Ryan's waist and picks him up and spins him around are more common than you think.

^ They've happened during those post-game meetings in the hallways. They happened after graduation DEFINITELY. And they have happened several times after Ryan's Broadway shows and Chad just had to rush backstage and tell him he was incredible out there

SPEAKING OF RYAN BEING ON BROADWAY POST-CANON: Chad always goes. He has not missed a show ever.

^ He even wears a brightly colored tie and makes sure he sits front row so that Ryan can look out into the audience and he sees that tie and he now knows that Chad is out there watching him.

Many people that know them will tell you that neither of them are all that clingy, but if they had to pick one it would be Ryan. But those people have clearly never met sleepy Chad.

^ Chad literally follows Ryan around their shared apartment like a lost puppy in the mornings ISTG- (Troy popped in for a visit and Ryan just said "Hi, Troy" as Chad was clinging onto him like a koala while Ryan was cooking breakfast)

Ryan could leave their room to go to the bathroom and when he comes back Chad is just sitting up in bed staring at him, half asleep, like "Where did you go :("

Drunk Chad once performed 'Baby' for Ryan and of course Troy (who was literally leaning on Gabriella for support bc he was so drunk he could hardly stand) was hyping him up😭
