While watching the @goldengirls for the trillionth time today I realized that they referenced #AIDS in this episode. There is another much more famous episode that references AIDS when the storyline is about an AIDS scare after Rose received a blood transfusion. The disease was mentioned a lot in that episode but as you can see, they do not say the word AIDS in this episode clip. But, I realize now, the little boy says there is “no hope” that he will survive for long after they “goofed up his blood with that transfusion” meaning he knows he will soon die from the “goof up” which presumably means he received tainted AIDS blood. Looking back at this now and making this realization, my guess is that this episode came out around the time in the 80s that the young boy #RyanWhite contracted AIDS after he underwent a blood transfusion. I’m pretty stunned that after watching and rewatching #TheGoldenGirls for so many years I am still picking up new things from this brilliant sitcom TV series.
