(SPOILERS FOR THE BOYS FINALE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

I had a thought last night. after a few days that the finale ended, I was disappointed to hear that ryan lost his powers while holding down homelander for kimiko’s boybeam to depower homelander.

however, I had another thought.

after kimiko released the boybeam, butcher and homelander were bleeding. however, ryan was not. a little dirty from the asphalt, yes…but not bleeding. whenever supes lose their powers, they’re shown to be bleeding from wounds that should’ve been sliced open, but weren’t. showing with butcher and homelander.

ryan must’ve been sliced or given a few good punches from that fight, but he had no visible cuts or bruises anywhere on him.

ryan is very much different from other supes. ryan is the first genetically born supe in the boys universe. he couldn’t be just some kid born with V present, right?

no, ryan has mutated genes.

ryan’s genetics are superior compared to ordinary supes. there isn’t just V present in his system, but it’s mixed within his entire system. even his cells are mutated.

according to basic biology, cells repair themselves one to two weeks at a time. after ryan took in the boybeam, it must’ve knocked his superpowered cells back, making him powerless. like i had said before, ryan is very much different from supes due to his genetics.

we could also see that ryan’s healing factor has progressed to the point where he can take full blows from V1 homelander with no damage.

that means he would’ve been healing at milliseconds.

when he got blasted with the boybeam, it didn’t knock his powers out because those blasted out cells would’ve just repaired themselves within seconds and ryan wouldn’t even know that he lost his powers because his healing factor is that quick now.

later on after the defeat of homelander, butcher has a one to one with ryan, now that the ‘both’ of them are ordinary people, the three (terror included) of them can finally get away from everything and live a fresh new start away from everything.

ryan; however says no.

he explains to butcher that he didn’t want a fresh start with him because he came to realize that he was just as evil as his father, that he didn’t join the fight for butcher, but for himself.

but I think there’s more to what ryan is saying.

when ryan’s powers didn’t get boybeamed by kimiko, butcher didn’t have a single thought on why ryan had no visible bruises or cuts on him after the fight. he automatically assumed with no further questions that he and ryan were both depowered.

ryan now sees what kind of person butcher was. even with homelander dead, he wasn’t going to stop killing supes. if ryan were to reveal to butcher that he still had his powers, it would be a matter of time before butcher turned on ryan

and would kill him.

that wasn’t a risk ryan was planning to take. so, he kept his powers hidden from homelander. I believe he’s going to do the same with M.M. ryan was known to hide his powers while in hiding until people found him, in which he’d have to bring them out to defend himself.

1. both ryan and glen have self loathing issues.

watching both shows, I’ve seen how much ryan and glen both share the same self loathing issues of not feeling ‘normal’ or apart of earth. ryan feels this way with his powers and his self worth, glen feels this way with their own self worth and purpose of existence.

2. ryan and glen have terrible fathers.

I fear this was the most obvious thing between them, but ryan and glen both have awful fathers. they’re neglectful to their needs and both are selfish and care about themselves.

homelander is an overgrown manchild who throws tantrums when he doesn’t get what he wants and views ryan as an extension of him. he neglected ryan’s emotion state and brushed it off as if he were speaking to himself and he’d just get it.

from seasons 2-5, homelander went from viewing ryan as a son, a legacy and a prodigy to just a legacy and a prodigy within a couple seasons. he tried making ryan turn into him, but it backfired because ryan is just like his kindhearted and pure mother. he was taught how to love and see the wrongs of people, nearing the end of season 4, ryan finally seen the true person that homelander was, which led to his deep hatred for his father up until his death.

with glen, they were an orphan for six years. knew nothing of their parents, was a ‘ventriloquist doll’ that belonged to an physically and verbally abusive british man named psychs. chucky; surprisingly wasn’t a bad dad for glen, however was a bad person for them.

even if chucky seems to love and support his first born, he is still not the best father in the slightest. he neglects glen’s needs for his own killing ways. he’s completely fine with glen not killing, he just depended on their twin, glenda to carry on the ray tradition. chucky wasn’t the best person to be around for glen. if chucky was going to keep continue killing while he now had a child, that was not a good thing for glen and for their mental health. glen was already traumatized enough, they didn’t need more trauma.

it’s like glenda said, chucky is self absorbed and psychotic just like tiffany. therefore, he is just as awful of a fit for a parent as much as tiffany is.

3. both ryan and glen have good morals.

the main thing that ryan and glen have the most in common is their good morals. the both of them know what their fathers do is wrong, fully.

ryan knows his father kill’s people with no remorse. he knows it’s wrong, homelander assaulting his mother? he also knew it was one of the most horrible things you could ever do in humanity. he even knew at a young age; with him being sheltered from the real world that homelander touching his mother was bad. he knew lying was bad. he knew every bad thing was bad even with how sheltered and closed off from life he was.

ryan wanted to use his powers for good. his powers were exploited against his own will. homelander used ryan and his powers to boost up his popularity and ratings (hence, coming in unannounced and unscripted into ryan’s first ‘save’)

now, with glen. they knew from the start at six years old that what their parents were doing was awful. they knew violence was bad; so was killing. even when chucky and tiffany tried brushing it off as good, they were still unsure.

as they got older, it’s highly implied that they still have this pure mindset of killing being a horrible act, hence it’s why they stray away from anything having to do with killing to save their innocence by concealing themself from blood and violence so they didn’t end up like their father.

glen; despite being the biggest mama’s child couldn’t even defend their mother’s actions with killing. they started to resent her for it. glen is the sweetest and most understanding of the twins, surely they would understand why their parents kill right?

nope. they know it’s wrong and that’s a very good thing.

anyways I’m burnt out and run out of things to compare them with long ass explanations why so I’ll lost some short versions

4. both are the first child (ryan has no siblings while glen is the oldest of the twins)

5. both are somewhat emotionally intelligent.

6. both of them have killed their fathers successfully. (ryan, helped aid in homelanders depowering which led to his death. glen cut up chucky into pieces before chopping off his own head.)

7. both get their happy ending. (ryan gets adopted by a healthy father figure into a new and larger family, and glen fuses themself and glenda into their doll body and moves back to england to live a fresh and newer life away from chucky and tiffany)
