charlie's head is always filled with doubts. there's a voice in the back of her head, and it never shuts up. day and night, it reminds her of her many inadequacies. you're not enough. you're not worth it. and while she might have many flaws, at least she's self-aware. she's awfully hard to deal with. demands for people to walk on eggshells if they ever want to get close to her. attracts trouble like a magnet. it's not easy. and yet, they keep coming back. every time charlie thinks she's abused enough of their patience, she hears a knock on her door. it's the kind of thing one feels horribly guilty about. she doesn't voice it, but she does externalize it. always too accommodating, desperately asking for a chance to repay them and return the care invested in her.

"uhm, yeah. so this book is very late delivered. you should have delivered it months ago. you're gonna have to pay " he says as he looks at the information on the computer in front of him, he had absent mindedly taken the book without looking at the woman but when he looks up he is taken aback by how gorgeous she is. "then again, i see that it is your first offense so i guess we can forget it this time." he lets out a nervous chuckle, he had no idea if this was her first offense at all, but mohan couldn't control the words coming out of his mouth.

Though he'd already had a few beers before they'd driven over, that didn't stop Dallas from heading right to the bar to get himself another drink, something hopefully stronger, the moment they arrived at his parent's family mansion. Hell, he didn't even give his wife a second glance the moment he stepped out of the car, knowing she could fend for her damn self. She was the one that played into all this stupid shit anyway but what could he expect, she had only really married him for his money and all the fun little perks that came with it. So who gave a damn if he barely paid her any mind, she certainly didn't most of the time. Alcohol however was Dallas' true mistress, the only thing that could help him get through another stupid fucking engagement and another stupid fucking wedding.

After pouring himself a stiff drink, he casually strolled out into the back where the outdoor festivities were already under way. He spotted Alex instantly and he genuinely smiled. He'd always had a soft spot for his younger brother and Alex had always been a good kid. He'd always been smart too, smart enough to pull away from all this bullshit, which only made Dallas feel even more confused as to why the hell then they were there to celebrate the announcement of his engagement so some woman he apparen't hadn't even been with all that long. Dallas' gaze from behind his glasses moved from his brother to the woman sitting beside him, smiling but looking a little nervous. As she should be. The moment his eyes landed on her, Dallas could begin to understand his brother a bit more though as he had to admit, she was pretty fucking gorgeous.

Walking up, he noticed his wife already schmoozing it up with the others so he walked right over to Alex, clapping his free hand down on his brother's shoulder. "Well well well, look who finally made it back home." He greeted casually, despite the bitterness that seemed to linger in the back of his tongue. Pulling his brother into a hug, he made sure to not spill his drink as they embraced with warm smiles. He pulled back and turned his gaze back on his brother's new fiance. "And this must be the woman of the hour. Well aren't you something," he said as he blatantly pulled his glasses down and gave her the once over. "I can see why this guy here finally decided to settle down." He motioned towards Alex before offering her a smile and holding out his hand to her. "I'm Dallas." | @rxtualistic
