I was doing some thinking about Caboose’s labyrinth and what it could mean that “it was trying to make him hungry”. I started thinking about synonyms (since that seems to be a running gag of Caboose’s) and it hit me:
The labyrinth was likely starving Caboose of affection.
Hear me out: Caboose is an affectionate person who cares deeply for his friends, so it would make sense that being without them would be his biggest nightmare. At this point, friendship is his greatest value, and the Reds and Blues have been together through everything. By keeping them from him, he would be starved of those he loves most.
Of course, Caboose wouldn’t understand this. The Reds and Blues would never abandon him (and he’d be right). He would have had faith that he’d find his friends again, and that’s how he broke free from the labyrinth on his own. It couldn’t keep a hold on him because he didn’t believe what he was seeing before him; he just believed that much in his friends.
