“Tom Marvolo Riddle” (Illuminate 2020)

For those who do not know, my main fine art focus over the past few years as an art student has been photography. I am an optical photographer meaning I love to shoot through objects to get different textures and effects during the shooting process.

For my advanced study, I chose to focus specifically on neon photography to create a better understanding of night time photo. I created all of my neon sign images digitally then shot them through glass, oil, water and soap in some images.

Backstory: I am an Art and Desing major with an Arts Entrepreneurship minor at Morehead State University. For my Arts Ent class, I have to take items made by me to a marketplace. I knew right away that I would be using Etsy! But I chose to create Bookmarks after picking up a book to read one day just to realize that I had very few bookmarks. I created some for myself then decided to laminate them for long lasting use and use them as my sales pitch for class. I cut and paint them with watercolor myself and then I write on them using prismacolor pens. Once everything is dry, I laminate them and they are good to go! I take my inspiration from works of literature, tv / movies, and broadway. Some Bookmarks you will find are from The Shadowhunters Chronicles, A court of Thorns and Roses, Harry Potter, Sherlock, and Teen Wolf.
