#rusty boxx

I've not written a blog for a while..I do apologies...you'd be forgiven for thinking that the label had gone in to hiding. I'm pleased to say we haven't and that 2015 will be another busy year for us.

Before looking forward let's take a look back for a moment...

The first year of Oh Mercy! Records was definitely memorable. From our launch gig in the back end of 2013 to Tony James Shevlin getting a review in R2 magazine in October 2014...it's been a great ride with releases from Phil Jackson, Rusty Boxx and the aforementioned Tony.

In reflection we probably took on too much, promoting 4 releases in 1 year was a lot of work and I'd not anticipated how much would be involved. That will be the first thing that changes in 2015, Oh Mercy! Records will likely only put out 2 releases. One of them will definitely be the Busking for Breakfast album and the other, well, you'll all have to wait and see ;-).

I'd like to thank all the journalists, blogs, DJs, magazines and promoters who have helped get the music out there. I have 100% faith in all the bands and music that the label puts out and it's always nice when you meet people that have the same passion for it...I guess it gives it some kind of validation!

I'd also like to thank all the bands, musicians and solo artists who have sent demos to the label. I promise to respond to them all...there are some very talented folk out there and I wish I could work with you all!

There'll be more news from Oh Mercy! HQ over the next few weeks regarding the release of Busking for Breakfast but in the meantime I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and an excellent New Year!

Oh Mercy! Records are delighted to announce the signing of, and release details for, Rusty Boxx, an indie folk quartet who are already gathering significant radio play from BBC Introducing, as well as notable festival bookings for 2014.

The band will be releasing the EP ‘Scattered Keeses’ on 31st March and it will be available from all good digital retailers & streaming services including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify and Rdio.

Awash with strong melodies and haunting harmonies, this release includes the tracks Wall Of Fans, Boy By The River, Must Be For You, and Fortitude, and promises to be a hit with fans of Mumford & Sons, The Civil Wars and Bon Iver.

To celebrate the release of the EP, the band and label are offering fans the opportunity to get their hands on a free download of the non-EP track, Voice Without A Face. To do this, simply go to the Access All Areas part of the Oh Mercy! Records website, sign-up (if you aren't already a member) and download the track.

Firstly let me apologise for my shoddy behaviour on not keeping this blog a little more up-to-date. I hope to remedy that in the near future so please keep with it.

It's a very busy time for the Record Label at the moment; we are preparing for the release of the wonderful single 'Stay With Me' by Sound Menagerie, it's a song that just makes me smile every time I hear it. It's officially released on 3rd February 2014 and promotion of the release is stepping up a gear in the next week or so.

We're also busy working on the single, Shot Down, for Busking for Breakfast. It's going to be the first track from their debut EP. It's nice to be getting involved in the record and pre-production and hearing these songs in their embryonic state...it's going to be a great EP. Well I would obviously say that wouldn't I! It is true though....yep, it is....so there!

On top of that we've welcomed Jamie Breckenridge on board as the Video Content Manager for the label, he has got experience growing YouTube channels in terms of number of subscribers so watch out for some video content on OM!R TV very soon!

Finally and the most exciting thing coming up soon, is the Label Launch Night at the Chamber Rooms, Ipswich Town Hall on 29th November. You can order tickets on-line here for only £3.00 and get a free mp3. It will be £4 on the door on the night.

The line-up is great with Busking for Breakfast and Rusty Boxx (who, all being well, will also be releasing music on the label). Headliners are the excellent pop-rockers OCASAN. They are just gearing up to release their 2nd album and have recently completed successful Canadian and European Tours...it's great that they are headlining the event.

I'm currently sat by the fire looking over the windswept hills of Yorkshire watching the Killers do an awful slow version of "Read my Mind' on Wools Holland....don't worry, there won't be any slow Killers covers at the launch night. Sorry? What launch night? Did I not say? Oh....I mean THIS launch night ;-)
