RUOK? What Happens Next?
Every year Australia holds an event called RUOK? Day. This is an event acknowledging mental health awareness and reminding everyone that itâs okay not to be okay and you can talk to someone if youâre upset by something. This year, the theme is involved around the next question. What happens if someone isnât okay? Itâs all about what happens next, so thatâs what Iâd like to write about. Many people donât know what the next question is when someone says theyâre not okay. Instinctively weâll ask the person âwhatâs wrong?â However, that may not always be the best choice. Being open to discuss things that ail an individual for some take a lot of trust. One may never know what is going on, or what has happened in a persons life. This has a possibility of causing more distress. This is a day everyone focuses on mental health and reaching out to family and friends, but one may wonder what happens if someone says no. Do you know? Youâd ask them whatâs wrong, but as previously stated, thatâs not always the best cause of action. Itâs important to remind people that you are there for them, if they need or want to talk, let them know youâre open ears, if they just want company, stay with them. Caring for someone is far more than just talking these are only a select few of things you can do for your friends and family. I simply thought Iâd write a short thought-pad on this. Iâd like you to think about this too, although other countries donât have this day, make sure you check in with your friends and family and offer your support to those who may need it. You never know what may be going on in someoneâs life, or in someones mind. So please be kind to one another, and stay safe. All the best, Viper.
