Today was the first of two scheduled practices I have this week. Because of the holidays on Wednesday (kind of), and Thursday, the team only has scheduled practices today and Friday. It’s too a big issue though, I’ll just run on my own on the days we have off (probably somewhere around 4 to 5 miles).
We warmed up with the usual two laps on the track, did drills, and stretched. Today we ran indoors, and we did a workout we call the “12 Days of Christmas Workout”. It’s based off of the song the 12 Days of Christmas. Just like how in the song the gifts are repeated, we do the workout by replacing the gifts with exercises.
So the workout went like this: 1 Fifty Meter Run, 2 Jumping Lunges, 3 V-ups, 4 push-ups, 5 Mountain Climbers, 6 Burpees, 7 Star Jumps, 8 sit-ups, 9 Jumping Jacks, 10 leg raises, 11 flutter kicks, and 12 Russian twists.
(A star jump is when you start from a standing position, go into a deep squat, and jump up, extending your arms/legs)
The first set started off with just one fifty meter run. Then in the second set, we did the fifty meter run and the two jumping lunges. In the third set we did the fifty meter run, two jumping lunges, three v-ups, and continued like this until we got up to 12 Russian twists finished the workout.
It was a fun workout, the Burpees got difficult for me to do, especially at the end when I was starting to feel tired.
After the workout I went to the weight room and did some more core and arm exercises.
