Those who know me... know I don’t run... unless a bug is chasing me! But I wanted to do something different on this 16th anniversary of my father’s home-going. I thought about his @usarmy and @army_aviation service during the #vietnamwar . After the helicopter he was piloting was shot down by the enemy and he was critically wounded, when at last he was healed enough to come home... his country rejected his sacrifice. He and those countless soldiers who received no welcome home parades, no family celebrations and no recognition for what they tried to do. They where spat on and cursed by their own country men and women, even told to NOT wear their service uniforms in public. I came across #runfiercerace and an opportunity to honor those who fought in Vietnam! Accidentally inhaling several gnats while walking today was a very small sacrifice.
