mark would love to respond with words. instead, it's with a loud sneeze into the closest tissue, eyes red-rimmed under his glasses. it'd be funny if mark didn't feel like absolute shit. who gets sick in the middle of the summer? it's worse that nic looks at him with pity. " honestly, it'd be better if y'didn't. " another sneeze, punctuated by a soft groan. " y'shouldn't get too close. i'd feel worse if i knew i got y'sick. " then again, mark doesn't remember the last time nic was under the weather. to him, she seems to be the picture of health. he swallows, though it achesβ and so he falls sideways on the couch, defeated. hitting the pillow feels a lot better than the ache in his lungs.
