It’s such a standard scenario. And yet, so entirely new (or, rather, entirely old) at the same time.

Made no clearer as, just as the Dreemurr here has made their way far enough away from the school on their walk back home, they’re suddenly pounced upon from behind; familiar legs dangling around their sides and arms clinging around their shoulders in a surprise piggyback onto his much taller frame.

He’d hardly even need to turn his head to know he’d be met with that smug (and lovely) reindeer’s face... but, why wouldn’t he still?

“You really that quick to abandon me, Fluffybuns? Weren’t even gonna come cheer me on this time? I’m hurt.” December says, playfulness as present in her tone as it was on her face as she rested her chin on Asriel’s shoulder, the girl’s strong arms giving him an affectionate squeeze. “You’re lucky I decided to skip baseball practice, or else your day would be really fuckin’ boring.

Without telling anyone, by the way. We got maybe like, two hours of me not having to be anywhere or go anywhere I don’t want to. All the more time to bother you.”

FINE THEN! But I’m using you enablers as excuses!

Dess was about the same age as Asriel was when they were kids, so by the time of Deltarune she’d be ready to go to college along with him. She probably wouldn’t want to, though, as she’s the one who used to protect Noelle when their father couldn’t, and with him in the hospital she’d definitely wanna stay to look after her little sister... making it all the more distressing that she’s currently nowhere to be seen...

Probably takes a bit more from their father’s side, and in turn inherited his darker hair. Might not have had a glowing red nose, though! Also- beanpole girl. Was as tall as their dad.

Dess and Asriel’s relationship was pretty similar to Kris’s and Noelle’s, except reversed- Dess was the delinquent troublemaker who’d drag him off on adventures and pull pranks on him, while Asriel was the kindhearted goody-two-shoes who’d be victim of her shenanigans only to laugh about them afterwards.

Also, uh, Asriel was apparently popular with girls in town (in the sense that his dorkiness was endearing, on top of just being cute) based on Bratty and Catty, so like. Just gonna leave that fact right here along with the one above for no particular reason.

Dess was a double-edged sword for Kris when they were all kids, because on one hand, they could pull off some absolute chaos together and terrify the town with their tomfoolery... but, on the other, she was incredibly protective of her little sister and would chase them around with her wiffleball bat anytime they terrorized her in Dess’s vicinity. She’s not like Asriel, she doesn’t care if you’re a little kid and she’s a big kid, she will bonk you without any shred of mercy.

Because of Dess being “scary but in a fun way” all her life, she’s come to associate the feeling of being playfully scared with her... and, in turn, it’s become kind of a comforting love language for her. That’s why she always smiles and laughs when talking about Kris’s past pranks on her.

If she was actually around to go into the Dark World, she’d probably have ended up with a skillset similar to Susie’s. Except, instead of an axe, she’d get a comically large club that, despite her lankiness, she’d swing around with very little effort.
