How did Ink Stained Psalms tame a vulture? Did they always know it was possible because uber-smart iterator or did she figure it out herself? Did it even tame the vulture or did it just accept her into its brood when they were researching it?
This is also a good question thank you! I really had only decided it had an affinity for vultures kinda recently thanks to some cool observations by my friend, and wanted to draw her with one.
Psalms has observed vultures long enough to know their basic life cycle. (The following bits are taken from my partner's hcs everyone say thank you finn). The eggs have soft shells and come out covered in a sticky paste, which the parents use their wings to stick to corners or crevices where they dry and cement into place until hatching. The vulture parents do not typically return to care for their eggs after laying them, so taking an egg for herself after it fell from its hiding spot was no issue. I imagine she uses a sort of external extension of consciousness like a small biotech robot or drone, which are common among iterators for basic practicality.
Psalms already has facilities that are ideal for keeping animals built onto the outermost parts of her structure, repurposed from agricultural testing labs and greenhouses. So she raised a vulture, taught it to associate her likeness and structure with food and safety, and started training it- as vultures are moderately intelligent animals descended from purposed creatures this was not highly difficult. They would probably occasionally let the fledgling near their puppet, because their soft spot for wildlife overrides their caution. So, "figured it out herself" is the closest answer! It was all kind of an experiment to see if it could, and based off thorough observation and study of the creatures (because as you said, uber-smart iterator).
