So. Saw that ‘draw your plushes as Animal Crossing villagers’ prompt. And got incredibly carried away with what were originally warm up sketches…

I really shouldn’t be allowed to make OCs. They’re only ever gentle horror or utter trash. But this was incredibly fun! I want to make more! Honestly have been wanting to make a fortune cookie set for WEEKS too but haven’t figured out what to theme it around. (Other than the aforementioned and very AC-appropriate horrortrashcore vibes I have going on. Hire me, Nintendo.)

I believe it was Jesse Cox and the Scary Game Squad (and maybe a few others but I heard it from them first because I’m biased and watch them first so I can enjoy having the entire story spoiled or incredible crackpot theories or both) who pointed out Six looks an awful lot like a certain salt girl, and I ran with it. I’m actually really pleased how it came out compared to the original and vintage salt cartons I was looking at! I was going to have her mirror carried on her back instead of the Morton version’s umbrella but it didn’t look like it would make sense with her other hand occupied–so I at least replaced the salt with the creepy glittery darkness you see when breaking the doll collectibles. And she has a nome instead of a salt carton in her left hand and I honestly cackled when someone saw it and yelled at me about it

so here’s an OC sketch i got carried away in i’m not sure what his name is right now but let’s call him steve.  i submitted a fandom-adjusted version of steve for a fandom zine recently but he got rejected, so i wanted to try redrawin’ normcore steve. i might try to reuse that character sheet for something else but if i don’t, i’ll repost here later.

i dream of one day using steve for dnd so i can play as some dork who wears a potted plant in a baby carrier. steve is convinced he is a plant possessing a human. how i’d use him would vary, but default steve? is just a dude with a plant who has the power of Gun or Knife (he paints them with flowers). he has a personality somewhere between bill cipher and an alien poorly pretending to be human, and is very cheerfully friendly and enthusiastic about life while looking a little dead inside. he wears nothing but a well worn bathrobe with a tank n boxers n crocs. 

essentially, he has the energy of a man hungover in a walmart at 3am with no idea of how he got there but with great determination to rescue or kidnap local flora while armed and dangerous(?). 

steve’s vaguely based partly on a strange man in a blue bathrobe i saw outside my neighborhood when i was in elementary. he was waving to every passerby, then pointing to himself, making a heart sign, and pointing back at them. all of it was extremely excited while clearly mouthing (or yelling, the windows were closed) ‘i-love-you’ with each equivalent gesture and his head flopping around for emphasis. it’s still strangely memorable a decade later.
