Grayson: Hey, are you going to the cherry blossom...party?
Grayson: I suppose it won't be the way it's meant to be, traditionally, but I'm sure it's still worth seeing, as a first year and all.

grayson’s family is traditional, to put it kindly, so therapy didn’t play a role in his upbringing. seeing a therapist made him more anxious than he’d anticipated. granted, his home life is complicated, but for the most part, he lives a very quiet, easy life, so he expected the questions to be something of a breeze. when he walks into the common room and sees ruby seated on the couch, he tries not to wonder how her sessions have gone, though he can’t quite stop himself. her family, intentionally, seems put together and loving, but there’s a good chance there are things about them, and her, that he doesn’t know, things that might make the mandated therapy uncomfortable. he smiles when she looks up and sees him approaching. “hi,” he says in greeting before sitting down beside her. “i hope you’re feeling better. i always have more tea, you know, if you need it.” it’s a joke, in part, but also a genuine offer. / @rubymeriwether
This was not a situation he felt aptly prepared for, which most likely meant nobody at Gallagher knew how to respond. Though Grayson didn’t know the victims well, he found himself more troubled by their deaths than with the manner in which they had occurred. But he knew what the Code Black meant and it wasn’t in his nature to start distrusting his classmates, hard as his father tried to raise him as a skeptic. Being locked in his room all night wasn’t ideal given how concerned everyone was, but something about it was also...comforting, knowing he wasn’t experiencing what they were all experiencing alone. He wondered about the students out on their mission, whether they were called back to Gallagher immediately or off at a safe undisclosed location. Shortly after noon, he finally left the temporary prison of his dorm and headed towards Ruby’s room to see if she’d made it back to campus. He was looking at the ground and muttering under his breath, practicing the least embarrassing thing to greet her with, and what to say should one of her roommate’s answer the door, when he collided with another fast walking body. Grayson imagined plenty of people were leaving their dorms to check in on one another, but he hadn’t expected to look up and see Ruby. “Oh,” he breathed out, equal parts surprised and relieved. His apology remained lodged at the back of his throat, as a different, sudden thought escaped before he could think better of it. “You’re here.” And considering someone was dead, perhaps his desire to hug her wasn’t completely out of line. “I was, um, coming to see you, actually. To see if you were back and...are you all right?” / @rubymeriwether
