“Is it too cliche to pick up a bunch of sage and stakes?” She was kidding. Actually she was kind of serious about that last part, but she didn’t want Ramsey to take it that way. Gentle suggestion, that’s what her plan of action had been. After the Beekman incident, Ruby had armed herself with grimoires full of offensive spells and healing potions. She hadn’t pressed Ramsey to ask if she’d been training or looking into hunting again. It didn’t feel appropriate, but she figured if something was going on or even if she were toying with the idea of getting back out there, even playful support was still support. Arm in arm as to not get lost among the crowd of shoppers, she looked to the blonde at her side with a curious expression. “You know, I don’t know if I’ve ever really seen a lot of hunter stuff.” @hunter-haller

“Ramsey!” Ruby stopped short of the other blonde, her outstretched hands going right for her shoulders. Twin trails of dried blood ran from her nostrils. Broken, there was no doubt about it, the way her nose was set just didn’t look right. “Oh Rams.” She went from relieved to distressed, her fingers moving from shoulders to the side of her neck and then to her cheeks almost frantically. “I felt you, I-I knew something…” Biting at her lip, she tore her eyes from Ramsey and took in everything around them. People were running to and fretting over friends and family, trying to take inventory of who they’d lost. Paramedics tended to burns and broken bones and who knows what else, reporters stood feet away from disaster so they could tell folks at home what they’d missed. Mia, she still had to find Mia, she had to make sure Ozzie had gotten out, too. Her hands went to Ramsey’s, her thumb pressing lightly to the cool metal of the moonstone ring that’d been a late Christmas present. It’d felt fitting, to charm something that would allow her to know if her friend was in danger after their whole Beekman incident. She just didn’t think they’d need it so soon. “I should have got to you sooner.” @hunter-haller

“Everyone and their oils.” Ruby mumbled, martini glass full of root beer in one hand and her shoes in the other. She felt bad sneaking away from Mia, but there was only so many sodas she could drink before she was in desperate need of the bathroom. And because the bathroom was the place for women to congregate, she was thrilled to find Ramsey. Which had her going from happy to be there to excited because The Beekman was practically it’s own art museum. Mia had things to do, colleagues to support, she could be left alone for a little while and if she were gone too long she’d send a text. With that it mind, it’d seemed like a natural progression for them to step away to actually look at the paintings, chat about the architecture and building overall. “Did you see the railings though? All the sunbursts and dragons and stuff? Totally gorgeous.” Pausing in front of a portrait, she took a sip of her root beer and leaned in a little closer to look at the signature in the corner of frame. Everyone’s signature was always so much neater than hers and maybe she really should try to practice making it a bit more legible-

The sound of rain was loud against the metal of the fire escape. Sitting securely in the open window above it was Ruby with one hand curled around a coffee mug that contained peppermint tea. Her hair was loosely piled at the base of her neck and her free hand was out the window, extended just enough to be able to catch the droplets at her fingertips. Her expression was soft, eyes wide and lips upturned in a dreamy smile as she watched the rain come down. She could pretend that it was washing away all of the negative energy surrounding the city the last year. All of the turmoil everyone had gone through. It was over now, the supernatural community back to a semblance of peace.

“This one is particularly pretty.” The wildflowers were finally about to bloom, some just barely peeking from their buds. Ruby knelt down beside a patch of them along the path, not paying much mind to her dress being dirtied in the process. The blooms were a soft purple and her fingers brushed against them as her brow furrowed and they perked up just a bit more on their stems. Pleased, she smiled softly back up at her companion before straightening up and brushing her hands idly against her skirts, she was quick to take Ramsey’s arm in the bend of hers. “Wonder if the river is still frozen. Shall we go see?” @hunter-haller

“Is tinsel like, too much?” Looking up from the pile of Christmas decorations on the floor of the reception area of the shop to where Ramsey was doodling away on the couch, Ruby couldn’t help but frown at her own indecisiveness. The actual tree part was up, the lights were strung onto it, the hard part was over and done with. At her feet were boxes full of varying ornaments and decorations she’d yet to put up. Christmas wasn’t quite Halloween, but she did enjoy decorating in general and she hadn’t checked in with Ramsey in a while so she figured she’d kill two birds with one stone. She still worried about the other blonde after….The incident at the Beekman. And then they’d dealt with the city raining blood. She was determined to get things back to a semblance of normal though, didn’t want Ramsey to feel alone or off in her own head for too long. @hunter-haller

“What are you looking to do next?” It was probably a little unprofessional to be eating Oreos and flipping through portfolios and sketchbooks behind the reception desk with a friend, but here Ruby was sitting next to Ramsey on one of the two rolling chairs. The shop was quiet, no one on the books for her, she was mostly just there to answer the phone if it rang, maybe do some drawing away from home, clean up a bit. Which meant she had time for her fellow blonde and her somewhat odd antics. None of that mattered much to her, Ramsey might be kind of a strange one, but she was passionate about what she did and that made her wonderful company. “Back piece would be cool.” Nodding and flipping a page, she tried to find anything that remotely screamed ‘Ramsey’ to her, anything she’d been working on lately that kind of captured her ‘muchness’. @hunter-haller
