#ruby's semblance

Ruby’s Semblance being Petal Burst but...

“Ruby is capable of traveling at an extreme velocity from one point to another by breaking herself down to her molecular components, thus negating her mass and then reassembling them at the destination, theoretically making it possible for her to transport all of us in the same way, as mass no longer matters.” - Penny in v8

Ruby realizing she no longer knows who she is at the Herbalist... not wanting to be herself anymore... drinking the tea and supposedly going to the tree to ascend...

Breaking down... to her core components... and reassembling into something new? Or perhaps a stronger version?

I JUST was watching the beginning of volume 4 again and when I saw the Ruby-Nora combo that used Ruby’s semblance, thinking of what we know now about her semblance. It occurred to me that without even knowing she was breaking things down to a molecular level, she is still able to keep who is who straight. i.e. she didn’t splinch herself with Nora.

AND she can do it with many people at once like she did when they snuck into the Atlas military compound in volume 8.

Now that she knows that there is a person inside one of those hounds if/when one shows up again, could she use her semblance on it to shuck off the grimmness?

though that begs the question is it a full chimera? two beings merged as one? or is it like a fungus like cordyceps? so it’s just a bunch of muck to slough off/out of the person molecularly? And how long would the person survive after being subject to grimm stuff for that long.

Picture the following: During Ruby’s big, climactic fight against Cinder, or even Salem, Crescent Rose is broken, shattered, melted and just plain destroyed. It’s a classic ‘all is lost moment’.

But then, after Ruby regains her resolve and is ready to fight on, she holds a hand out. Then the broken, melted pieces of Crescent Rose all dissolve into petals.
