top 5 tamaharu moments.
These are going to all be undeniably cliche, but here we go- ( Also i’d like to add that i’m going to be referring to the anime only, mainly because it’s been a while since i’ve read the manga and not everyone is familiarized with it. )
top 5 tamaharu moments
1. Probably the most obvious and popular, but you can’t go wrong with the thunderstorm scene, and while i’m at it, i’m just going to go ahead and tie it along with the diving scene here as well, where Tamaki dives in after her to retrieve her from the ocean, since they are in such close proximity to each other. Here we have Haruhi who is terrified of thunderstorms and Tamaki pretty clueless at first. I feel like the dramatic flair though was perfect after that particular episode, what with Tamaki finally showing some sort of feeling resemblant to anger towards Haruhi, but simply out of his instinct to protect her. I was happy that they were able to establish some sort of argument between the two because although they do bicker, it isn’t often that they get into an actual fight, and the physical contact of that episode is so assuring once they do finally make up and touch upon something so heartfelt. The way that he pulls Haruhi so close and comforts her would make just about any viewer happy. At least those who like to dabble in the romance in a series, like I do. Dramatic? Maybe. But if anyone can pull of dramatic, it’s the Ouran Host Club.
2. Next comes the wallet scene. I know it’s another scene you probably saw coming, but I just can’t help myself, alright? I’m a giant ball of sap. Why else do you think that I love this show so dearly, among so many other great reasons? Not only do I like the peaceful atmosphere of this scene and the overall vibes it possesses, I also feel like it’s a great introduction to Tamaki and Haruhi, both as separate people and as a pairing or growing friendship. It shows you who they are as characters and how they both interact. The two of them, so modest and selfless, always wishing to help, chivalrous and charming yes but genuine and sincere are the two words that are most important when describing these two and how they come together. They are much more alike than many would seem to think, and this scene I think puts emphasis on that. Not only that, but it’s just all so charming to watch their dialogue.
3. The garden scene, or the scene where it is revealed that Tamaki is the Chairman’s son. I love this scene, or string of scenes because within this entire episode, you see Tamaki’s more childlike side, and Haruhi’s curiosity comes into the picture a bit more clearly. Watching Tamaki talk about his feelings, she is genuinely intrigued and wants to learn more about him-and learn about him she does, because Kyoya soon later on happens to spill the news on Tamaki’s status. Not only is this entire episode just overall endearing, especially towards the end, it’s also very symbolic. I’m sure you all have noticed ( it’s pretty easy to pick up on Ouran’s symbolism ) but each flower among the garden represents a host, and Tamaki and Haruhi’s flowers are placed together on the rose bush. Everyone has a flower placed next to the another, that is except for Kyoya. In other words, their futures and their theme of flower can all be touched upon in that one scene. Haruhi will go off and marry Tamaki in the end, while Kyoya, to his father’s disappointment won’t. Also, in regards to Haruhi’s surprise, don’t you just love the look of shock on Haruhi’s face? Because I know I do!
4. The second to last episode, regarding Haruhi’s rival, Eclair and the part where she walks in on Tamaki playing piano and is interrogated by her, as well as the private interrogation between just the two of them, if you can count that in there too. I really valued these interactions because they are finally able to show us the dynamic between Haruhi and Tamaki and just how far it goes. They clearly have feelings for one another, yet still these scenes leave the viewers feeling anxious, perhaps there won’t be a happy ending for the two? I adore Haruhi’s genuineness towards Tamaki’s well being. She doesn’t care for him for superficial reasons, in fact he is a friend before a love interest and that’s one of the things that makes their bond so special. They are more than acquaintances, like Eclair is. Though one could say Haruhi is denying her feelings at first, she is also being her true self, loving through friendship and pure heart. Haruhi is a good person, and so is Tamaki. He is striving so hard to do what is right, but he still hasn’t come back to reality. This is where Haruhi comes in and helps him, signifying our final outcome. God, these scenes in this episode are just the greatest. Really just fuel for my undying love for angst and you all know that angst is one of my favorite topics to delve into!
5. Lastly, the ending scene on the carriage, duh. Guys look i’m sorry i’m so predictable but how can you not include this one? Haruhi so brave and heroic, and Tamaki brave in his own personal way too! Haruhi admitting her feelings toward the club, showing desperate emotion to Tamaki, but all the while staying collected because she’s got drive and that drive is Tamaki. He makes her a better person, and vise-versa. They learn from each other’s differences and therefore motivate each other. What better love story honestly, their enthusiasm is infectious. Then more dramatic flair, that seriously makes me cringe and blush all at once if i’m going to be frank, but I love it nonetheless? When he carries her to safety like a bride in the bridal position ( more foreshadowing ) and then they re-quote the wallet scene to make it tug at your heart strings. I could just melt within that very scene.
