We get Queenie and Throkster again. I quite enjoy those two. And ol’ GP has to retire to... death camp, or whatever. That’s cool.

Best running highlight of this episode was Hiccup dealing with the Twins. There’s a lot of Stoick in Hiccup, and the irony is that Hiccup will never know how closely his frustration runs to that of his father’s in the past. There’s nothing unjust about the number of times he pinches the bridge of his nose.

that’s not a bewilderbeast, right? because those look like some massive tusks imo

So far some of my favorite bits of animation has to be Tuffnut’s braids. I don’t know if they’re giving him a lot of downward face angles just to show off or not, but I’m lovin’ it.

Snotlout and his father literally boast at each other. And Hedgelout, who is he? Griplout... freak mutton accident? These are all characters I want to sketch out. Clearly they must be from Spitelout’s side of the family.

Overall, I loved the Hofferson/Jorgenson dynamic. And Snotlout/Astrid interaction. I’m always a slut for Snotlout/Astrid interaction, particularly given the former-crush, fun-poking, irritation, warrior-mentality, friendship thing they have between them.

There is also definitely a CAT ON THAT ISLAND. I HEARD IT. ISLANDCAT ISLANDCAT OI OI OI

Fishlegs marrying Ruffnut was hilarious--I didn’t know if it fueled their shippers or the anti-shippers given how it played out, but I think its a nice starting point to where Fishlegs got his interest in Ruffnut. I wonder if that’s what we’ll be getting in this series: how Snotlout and Fishlegs each developed their HTTYD2 rivalry over Ruffnut. It’s certainly more interesting to me than whatever nonsense is happening with Hiccstrid (we KNOW how they got together, come on).
