“This is... Nice.” - @snifelisnifsnif
Aleks Marchant
Travelling around the holidays was always a nightmare. Too many people and too little patience just spelled disaster for most endeavors. Which is why when your plans to go back to Massachusetts with Aleks to visit his family for the holiday fell through you weren’t entirely surprised. That’s not to say that you weren’t disappointed; Aleks had been looking forward to introducing you to his family and showing around his hometown, things you were very excited to do.
Now, however, the two of you were stuck in LA after more than one canceled flight and several less than helpful airline employees. It was obvious to you that Aleks was bummed. He was never one to really celebrate the holidays but for once he was genuinely looking forward to something, so it was a little disheartening that it had to be cut off so suddenly.
When you returned home from the airport, Aleks took all of the bags back up to your shared bedroom and you decided to try and bring a little cheer back to him. As soon as he was up the stairs, you hurried to the fridge and pulled out the cookie dough that was still in there, set it on the counter, and turned to preheat the oven. While the oven was heating up, you grabbed a few blankets from beside the couch and set them up before pulling up Netflix and looking for a good Christmas movie.
After settling on How the Grinch Stole Christmas, you went back to the kitchen and put the pre-cut cookie dough pieces on a tray to slip into the oven. Humming softly to yourself, you grabbed two mugs from the cupboard and found the last of the cocoa mix that was stashed away as well. The sound of Aleks’ footsteps coming down the stairs hit your ears.
“Honey, what do you want to do for di- what’s this?”
You turned around to face him, both mugs of cocoa in your hands and smiled across the open living area at him. “I know it sucks that we couldn’t go on our trip so… I decided to bring some Christmas here,” you shrugged, holding out a mug for him. Aleks blinked back at your for a beat before a wide smile spread over his face and he began walking over towards you. He approached you, took one of the mugs, and slipped his other arm around your waist to pull you closer.
He hummed softly and kissed your temple, “Mm, thank you.”
“C’mon… I got a movie pulled up too,” you said, pulling away and leading him back to the couch.
Aleks sat down on the sofa and gently pulled you down to sit beside him before he grabbed the remote to start to movie. You reached over and spread one of the throw blankets over both of your laps, pressing closer to Aleks’ side. His arm laid across your shoulders and took a long sip of his hot chocolate. The movie start to play and a little ways in the smell of the cookies in the oven floated through the kitchen over to where you were sitting.
With a small sigh, Aleks kissed the top of your head. “This is… nice,” he breathed out, kissing your hair again, “Thank you.”

Nobody Told Me There’d Be Days Like These: Aleks Marchant
Word Count: 730
Summary: Sometimes a little TLC is all you need.
Though they didn’t happen nearly as often as they once had, you were well acquainted with what you had dubbed your dark days. Days where no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t bring yourself out of the funk in your head and all you wanted to do was curl up in bed away from everyone and everything. For some reason or another this particular dark day was harder than the last few had been; you had even called out of work opting to stay home alone.
You texted Aleks earlier in the day and told him you weren’t feeling well and suggested he figure out dinner for himself as you weren’t feeling up to either eating or making anything to eat. He hadn’t replied and that settled heavily on your mind as well, though you tried to push it away.
As the sun was setting and a pale golden pink strip of light came piercing through the small slit between the bedroom curtains, the rumbling of the garage below momentarily took your focus away from the movie playing on the television. You could hear Mishka’s feet skittering on the wood floors downstairs and after a moment or two you were able to make out the sound of Aleks speaking softly to her before the door leading outside opened - you assumed he took let her out to go to the bathroom.
The apartment was relatively still for a while until you heard Aleks’ feet coming up the stairs which caused Celia, who was asleep beside you, to stir slightly. You tore your eyes away from the screen to see him walking in the room with arms full of bags from the store. Curiously, you pushed yourself up to look at him for a moment, confusion evident on your face. “What’s all this?” you asked, absently pulling Celia into your lap.
“I got some things for you,” he murmured, setting the bags on the bed.
He rifled around in the bags for a few seconds before he began taking things out and tossing them in your direction. “Your favorite ice cream, some chocolate, caramels, that tea you like… uh, some fuzzy socks, a couple hair and face masks; oh, and this body spray,” he rattled all of the items as they landed near you.
“These are an awful lot of face masks,” you said as you picked one up and turned the package over in your hands.
Aleks climbed up on the bed beside you and sighed softly, “Yeah well, I thought I’d do one too.”
You looked up from the pack in your hands and glanced in Aleks’ direction, your eyebrows furrowing slightly. “You hate shit on your face. Especially goopy shit,” you said, as if he had forgotten. Aleks shrugged and leaned back against the pillows as he took off his hat and tossed it to the nightstand on his side of the bed.
“Yeah, but you like to do it and I just wanna make you happy,” he said in a low sort of voice, casting an almost bashful look at you.
There was a beat or two of silence as you blinked back at him before a smile gently tugged at the corners of your mouth. “I love you,” you simply said, leaning over to press a small kiss against Aleks’ lips. He sighed softly into the kiss and smiled warmly back at you as you pulled away from him.
Aleks nodded his head, “I love you too. So, pick some face masks, put on those fuzzy socks, and I’ll be right back.”
You watched as he slipped off of the bed and started towards the bedroom door. “Where are you going?” you asked. Aleks paused in the doorway and turned around to look back at you. He leaned against the doorframe and something about the way he was watching you with his warm, brown eyes and easy smile seemed to lift some of the dark clouds that had fogged up your brain for most of the day.
“I ordered some food that should be here soon. And I’m going to get you a spoon before your ice cream melts,” he replied as he turned back to walk out of the room. He made it a few steps before calling back to you, “Don’t pick a honey one for me. I love you but not that much!”
Together We’ll Ring in the New Year: Aleks Marchant
Word Count: 1218
Summary: It’s a mad dash to wrap up resolutions from the year before the clock strikes twelve.
I was commissioned by @twiceinabluemoon to write this.
The week leading up to New Year’s Eve was essentially an all out war in the group chat that had been set up between your collection of friends. Some people were adamant about going out to bar hop to celebrate, some just wanted a grown up dinner party, others were rallying for a house party to ring in the new year. In the end, it had become your job to create some semblance of a compromise lest no one end up doing anything for the holiday and everyone was forever bitter about it.
It was decided that you would all meet for drinks at a bar in West Hollywood, before making your way a restaurant nearby for a nice, sit down dinner, and finally you’d all find your way to Aleks’ place for an actual New Year’s party.
Some convincing was definitely necessary for some people but in the end, it seemed as if it was all going to work. After the group of you left the bar, you started down the street towards the restaurant. “I’m starving,” Aleks complained from beside you as the you of you trailed behind everyone else. You chuckled softly and shook your head as you pulled your jack a bit tighter around your body, even if it never got particularly cold in Los Angeles the temperature had definitely dipped into the chilly range while you were all in the bar.
“You’re always starving,” you teased, bumping your shoulder into his.
Aleks scoffed softly and gently knocked back into your side, “Alright, calm down… let’s just get some dinner and go back to my place.”
As the two of you approached the door to the restaurant, Lindsey was there holding it open for you. “Thanks,” you both murmured with smiles as you slipped inside. There was little to no waiting around before your group was being led back to the table. Before you made it there, Aleks wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer to his side.
“I got dinner since you got drinks,” he said lowly into your ear.
You turned your head and looked at him but when you attempted to argue with him, he promptly withdrew his arm and pulled off his coat to sit himself down at the table. You rolled your eyes and scoffed softly before you slipped off your own jacket and sat down in the chair beside Aleks. Quickly, everyone else got settled and drinks and appetizers were ordered.
“So, did anyone actually complete their resolutions this year?” Brett asked, sipping his beer.
“I did, I made more time for myself,” Lindsey said with a shrug.
James nodded his head, “Yeah, I started to get back into working out.”
“I finished mine last week,” you offered, picking up your glass, “I read a new book every month.”
Aleks turned his head and blinked back at you with his brows furrowed slightly in confusion. “How the hell did you find time to do that?” he asked with an almost incredulous laugh. You shrugged a shoulder and smiled back at him as you took a sip of your drink. “In between dealing with your dumbass I like to take some quiet time by myself,” you teased, setting your glass down.
“What about you, Aleksandr?” James asked, “Did you complete your resolution?”
Suddenly, Aleks’ face seemed to fall and he looked a hair paler than usual. His eyes left your face instantly and he looked away, coughing lightly. “No… No, man. Just didn’t work out,” he murmured, reaching for his drink. You raised both of your brows at him and leaned slightly further forward, arms resting on the table in front of you.
“What was it?”
Aleks shook his head and took a rather large sip from his glass, “Nothing, don’t worry about it.”
You’d known Aleks long enough to know better than to try and press the issue any further so you only shook your head slightly and went back to your drink, allowing Aleks to have his space and drop the questions. Dinner continued along at a normal fashion, and despite attempting to argue, and even steal the check, Aleks paid for the both of you. On your way out the door, you did manage to convince him to let you pay for the Lyft back to his place.
At his place, while Aleks got things set up, you took both Mishka and Celia upstairs to the office area to keep them out of the way and cut down on the risk of them sneaking out as people came in and out of the house. It didn’t take long for everyone else to arrive and Aleks turned on the music as well as the New Year’s show on television to play on in the background. Drinks were passed around and while everyone was having a great time, you found yourself mostly by Aleks’ side.
He’d quickly become one of your best friends in the time that you’d known one another and you were more than thankful to have him in your life, even if he did drive you crazy more often than not. “Hey, Aleks,” you murmured, bumping into his side, “Why didn’t you want to talk about your resolution at dinner?”
He shrugged and took a draw from his beer, “It’s not a big deal… I just didn’t get around to it.”
“I know they’re, like, stupid or whatever… but it’s kind of fun to challenge yourself, y’know? Maybe you just picked a dumb one,” you grinned at him.
“Yeah… a real dumb one,” he replied with a shrug.
The television on the wall focused in on the ball and you could see that you were approaching the last moments of the year. You smiled and turned to face Aleks as the countdown began.
Eight.
“Fuck it,” Aleks murmured.
Six.
He reached for your shirt.
Four.
You hesitantly looked up at him. The swirls of emotion you saw there made you gasp softly. Lust and desire. However, before you could ponder about it further, he yanked you closer to him and covered your mouth with his in a hungry kiss. As your lips crushed together, it felt as though you were walking on air. It was magic, the way his lips connected with your own. His mouth was so warm, the caress of his lips softer than you could have imagined and you opened your mouth with a low moan.
Aleks slowly pulled away from the kiss and blinked back at you with a slight grin tugging at his lips. “Resolution completed,” he murmured. You almost didn’t hear him over the sound of everyone else in the house cheering and clapping their hands as the clock finally ticked over to midnight, but you didn’t really care. You ran your hands up his arms and looped them around his neck while his hands made their way to your waist.
He leaned in and your foreheads gently pressed against one another and the smirk on his face, well earned and slightly unsure, told you everything that you needed to know as you relaxed his his hold and allowed your eyes to flutter shut. “That was a pretty good resolution,” you chuckled softly, earning a soft kiss to the side of your mouth.
You sighed loudly and ran your hands through your hair as you shifted your weight from foot to foot. Never in your life did you think getting four people into a car would be so difficult and require so much planning or explanation. “Lindsey is driving,” Asher said as he knelt down to check something in his bag, “I’m in the front seat and Y/N refuses to sit anywhere but behind Lindsey.”
“You make it sound so fucking unreasonable,” you countered, rolling your eyes.
Aleks slid his sunglasses down onto his face and turned in your direction, “I just don’t understand why you’re so adamant about where you sit in a fucking car.”
You had to take a deep breath in through your nose and release it slowly out of your mouth lest you actually growl at the man in front of you. Aleks seemed to simply enjoy making your life more difficult than it had to be and your patience was beginning to wear thin. When the last bit of breath as out of your lungs and you started to breathe normally again you fixed Aleks with a firm look.
“It’s… a thing that you just won’t get,” you started, not really wanting to go further into it.
Aleks sighed and gestured between the two of you, “Help me understand.”
That took you slightly aback. Most people didn’t want to understand why you did things certain ways; they either wanted to push you out of your comfort zone or poke fun at you for being so particular about things. You blinked slowly at Aleks before you shook your head once again. “I just… it’s an OCD thing, I guess. I have these intrusive thoughts in cars about getting into an accident and it helps if I’m either driving or right behind the driver so I can’t see oncoming traffic,” you softly explained, looking down at your feet on the asphalt.
There was a beat of silence before Aleks clapped his hands, “Alright well, let’s go.”
He walked passed you with a simple comforting hand sliding down your arm to give your hand a brief squeeze before he walked around the car and climbed into the backseat on the passenger side. You looked after him and he glanced out the window to only give you a slight nod of the head. It took you a few more seconds to shake yourself back into action so that you could get into the car as well.
After buckling your seatbelt, you glanced over at Aleks and gave him a grateful smile, “Thank you, Aleks, really.”
“No problem, man… just want you to feel safe,” he said with a shrug as he returned your smile.
We won't be broken hypocrites forever: Aleks Marchant
Part 1 of 4
Word Count: 4578
Summary: After your last crew fell to pieces you became a gun for hire, an assassin for whomever had the fattest payday. Somehow, you find yourself taking a hit you never should have and face to face with a man you thought you’d forgotten.
Warnings: Gun mentions, swearing.
The Fakes Syndicate were a well known, and feared, entity in the city of Los Santos. What had started as four friends pulling small cons almost twenty years ago had grown into branches of different groups all working together to run the city. The Fake AH Crew was run by Ramsey who had stayed when the other originals retired and stepped out of the game. They were the go-to group when it came to heists and getting funds. They were methodical when they needed to be and worked like a well oiled machine to get through their elaborate plans.
Fake Pine 7 were unpredictable and were the ones who were called in to set up deals. If your terms weren’t acceptable or didn’t meet their needs, they definitely made sure that you knew. However, it was Fake Chop that definitely put fear into people’s hearts. Explosions and manic laughter echoed in the streets late at night and come morning there was destruction as far as the eye could see.
You’d had to brush up on every detail you could on all of these groups to figure out how they operated and who ran what. You’d been doing this for a long time. When you first started you were in a little ragtag crew out on the East Coast near Liberty City but when things got out of hand you all had to go your separate ways. From then on, you had pretty much been on your own; flying under the radar you’d travel around the country pulling jobs wherever you could for whoever was paying the most.
Which is how you eventually landed yourself in Los Santos.
A Motorcycle club that you’d had a run in or two with back in Liberty City was operating a drug ring out in San Andreas in the arid Blaine County area got ahold of you with a proposition. The Fakes Syndicate was making their lives a living hell and they needed some help to get rid of the competition. They’d given you an upfront payment of $25,000 to take out an individual who was working with the FakeChop crew. You were only given a first name and a list of places he was known to frequent from time to time, along with a promise of an additional $25,000 when he had been taken care of.
Apparently, this Asher was the one who found out all of the Lost MC’s contacts and had gone out of his way to sabotage a large number of deals that they had set up. The Lost didn’t care how you did it, they just wanted the job done.
You had been in Los Santos county for a few days, trying to locate your target and find his patterns. It had taken some time but you’d managed to find where he lived and decided to make your move. Normally, you were methodical when it came to commiting your hits. You’d plan everything down to the very last detail to avoid suspicion and detection. However, the longer it took for you to find Asher the more often you’d receive calls from the leaders of The Lost on your burner phone demanding you to hurry up or there’d be hell to pay.
Honestly, you knew for a fact that a group of poorly organized, drugged up bikers wouldn’t really be much of a challenge for you, but you needed the rest of the money and were beginning to feel more than a little anxious the more time that you took. From where you sat in the front seat of a car you’d acquired a few days past, you could see the lights in the apartment that you were watching turn on. You took a steadying breath and reached over to your passenger seat to grab your pistol. You turned the hardware over in your hands and made sure you had your suppressor attached as well as extra ammunition. You definitely didn’t plan on going through with the hit in his apartment considering that there was the possibility of neighbors and strangers either hearing or someone seeing you enter or leave the building. But, you knew it was better to be safe than sorry.
After taking a steadying breath, you opened the car door and slipped out into the cool night air, tucking your gun into the back of your waistband. You flipped your jacket out to cover your back and you started to make your way across the street. You walked casually as you ran over details in your head. From the intel that you’d gathered, this Asher guy was not the most skilled when it came to using weapons but he seemed to be decent at close combat. You subconsciously ran a hand over the front of your your jacket, the feeling of your knife tucked inside calmed you slightly.
You half-jogged up the steps leading to the correct floor and made a quick glance of the area, not spotting anyone around. Silently, you approached the door and made a swift test of the door. You’d often been surprised at how many people just didn’t lock their front doors, especially those who were involved in less than savory activities. At finding the door to be locked, you reached into the pocket of your jeans and pulled out a lock picking set. Over the years you’d grown quite efficient at using it and you knew that you would be able to pop the door open in a matter of moments.
However, just as you crouched down and inserted the torsion wrench into place, you heard the telltale click of a pistol before feeling the barrel press against the back of your head. You swallowed hard and slowly lifted your hands away from the door to hold them out at your side. Hopefully, this was just an over enthusiastic neighborhood watcher and you would be able to sweet talk your way out of this situation.
“Y’know, I honestly thought that the illusive merry murderess would be a little harder to catch in the act,” a voice spoke calmly from behind you.
You ducked your head down slightly to stare at the ground in front of you, silently cursing yourself. You’d gotten too antsy and didn’t secure the area, trusting only your quick scan. The barrel pressed harder against your skull and you felt whoever it was behind you reach under the back of your jacket to remove your gun from your person. You gritted your teeth and glared down at the stupid welcome mat that you were knelt on, trying to figure a way out of this scenario with your brains still firmly inside of your head.
Slowly, you lifted your head to stare straight at the door in front of you as you attempted to calculate just how fast you would have to move in order to not only grab your knife, but open it, turn, and embed it into the person behind you, before they ever pulled the trigger. However, no matter how sharp your reflexes were, there was no way you could move faster than a bullet coming from a gun pressed to your head.
You took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, “Okay, look…”
“No, you don’t get to speak,” the man behind you said, “You do, however, get to come with me.”
Before you could process what it was he was saying, you felt the gun against your head move away and an arm wrap tightly around your neck. You gasped softly in surprise and both of your hands shot up to attempt to claw at the arm around your throat as it began to tighten. As your brain began to grow fuzzy and your vision started to darken around the edges, you tried to lower a hand down to the front of your jacket. Your fingers struggled and groped for the pocket on the inside and just as you felt then wrap around the cool metal of the knife handle, the man behind you yanked you backwards and your hand fell away just as your completely blacked out.
When you felt yourself coming to, the first sensation you were aware of was the dull throbbing inside of your head. Your face scrunched up as you tried to work through the blackness in your memory. Inhaling slowly, you attempted to move your body from the strange uncomfort you felt settling into your joints but found yourself to be bound to the chair you were sat in. With a low groan, you peeled open your eyes to see that you were in a dimly lit open room. You sighed and squinted as you tried to take in your surroundings.
“Welcome back to the land of the living,” a voice from your right said.
Your head snapped in the direction of the voice and could only vaguely make out the shape of a person in the shadows. “Where am I?” you asked, voice low and slightly rough. The person in the shadows chuckled lowly and you heard the soft click of a knife opening, the sound of which set your heart rate into overdrive. “You’re in the Slaughterhouse,” the voice said, and you recognized it as the voice from the man who had come up behind you outside of Asher’s apartment.
In your head, you ran through every piece of information you had about the Fakes until you realized what was happening. The Slaughterhouse was what FakeChop called their base of operations, it was where they ran through their plans and oftentimes took care of business. You swallowed hard and tried to squint through the dark at the figure. “How long am I staying in the Slaughterhouse?” you asked, pulling at the restraints around your wrists. You knew full well that more often than not, people who visit the Slaughterhouse did not leave in one piece.
There is another chuckle, “That’s not entirely up to me.”
“Who exactly is it up to, then?” you asked with a slight grunt, pulling on your other restraints.
You watched as the figure seemed to stand up from a chair and walk around you. As he moved you could catch glimpses of him other than the darkness but he was quick to move away again out of sight. “My associates can’t quite seem to come to a consensus on what to do with you,” he drawled, circling around you, “So, we’re waiting for them to finish deliberating.”
“So, you’re on babysitting duty,” you asked with a slight smirk.
There was a slightly disgruntled noise from the darkness and you chuckled lowly. You’d learned after a certain amount of time of being in your line of work that you could more often than not talk your way out of a situation. You tried not to make it a habit of being captured but in the few instances that you couldn’t help it, you had managed to distract your captors enough to find a way out.
Finally, the man from the shadows stepped forward into the dark. He had platinum blonde hair and wore a pair of black Ray Bans on his face. As you watched him walk closer, you narrowed your eyes at him in a studious sort of way. Something about this man was oddly familiar but you for the life of you, you couldn’t place why or how. “I appreciate your attempt to rile me up,” he said with a slight laugh, “It’ll make this whole waiting period more interesting.”
He pulled a chair closer and turned it around in front of you before straddling himself over it, laying his arms over the back of the chair. He stared in your general direction, but you were unsure if he was looking at you due to the dark lenses obscuring his eyes. “So, who sent you after Asher?” he asked, head tilting slightly to the side. You raised both of your eyebrows at him and smirked just little back at him.
“You can’t honestly think that I’d tell you that,” you shot back.
He shrugged his shoulders, “Worth a shot.”
Staring back at him, you tilted your head as you narrowed your eyes at him once more. There was something about the way that he carried himself and spoke that definitely struck you as familiar and it was beginning to nag at the back of your brain now that he was closer to you. “How much did they pay you?” he asked, reaching into his back pocket. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and beat the bottom of the pack against the heel of his hand before opening it to pull one out. He stuck the cigarette between his lips and, in a flash, pulled out a lighter to hold the flame to the end of it.
“Enough,” was your only answer.
He breathed in deeply and slowly exhaled a breath of smoke into your face. Your nose scrunched up as the smoke hit you directly but you made no other sign of discomfort, which just made him smile and raise a single eyebrow over the top of his sunglasses. He leaned back slightly in his chair and slid the leather jacket that he was wearing off of his shoulders. Underneath he wore a white baseball shirt with black sleeves ending at just about the middle of his forearms.
It was then that everything seemed to click in your head.
On his right arm you could see brightly colored tattoos and from where you were seated you could see an all too familiar design featuring satellites and stars in space. Your eyes snapped up from his arm to his face and you assumed that he must have seen the shock present on your face because he was slowly raising his sunglasses to rest on the top of his head. That was when you were met with a pair of all too familiar brown eyes.
“Aleks?” you breathed, “Aleks Marchant?”
It was his turn to look surprised. He seemed to be taken aback and leaned further from you in his chair, watching you with suspicious eyes. There was a long stretch of silence as he continued to stare at you until, finally, a look of recognition broke out across his face. “Holy shit… Y/N?” he questioned, dropping his cigarette to the ground in disbelief.
Your head suddenly swam with memories of your first crew; a group of misfits who had gotten too big, too fast and quickly found themselves in over their heads. You remembered car chases, explosions, and gun fights all with Aleks by your side. The two of you had been younger then, not as jaded. You recalled laughing with your hand out the window of a speeding car that Aleks was driving, raining bullets down on those attempting to follow. Most of all, you remembered the nights after a successful heist, wrapped up with Aleks in his bed.
Two members of your crew got taken into custody after a mishap with a deal and they were quick to sing when the cops pressured them. Everyone else had to scatter fast in order to avoid being taken in as well. That night was the last you had seen Aleks, both of you meeting in a dark alley, cars packed haphazardly, and kissing goodbye with whispered promises. The last you had heard, Aleks had made his way out to Colorado and joined up with another crew there. That was the last bit of information you’d heard on his whereabouts and that was quite a few years ago.
The air suddenly felt thick and you struggled to collect your thoughts to keep yourself in the present. You hadn’t ever imagined you would see Aleks again, but here you were in a less than ideal situation face to face with a ghost from your past.
Before either of you could formulate a word, two men came around the corner with hard expressions on their faces. The first, a man with a baseball cap on and looked to be very well built, came to a stop beside Aleks. “Has she talked?” he asked in a low voice.
The question seemed to catch Aleks off guard as his only response was to mutter, “what?”
“Aleksandr,” another man scolded as he approached, “has she said anything?”
The presence of the second man seemed to jar Aleks from his thoughts, and he quickly pushed himself up from his chair. He removed his sunglasses from their spot on top of his head and ran his finger through his hair. “No, but-“ he started to say but he was promptly cut off by the first man pulling out a gun and aiming it between your eyes.
Aleks inhaled sharply and held his hands out as he got to his feet, “Brett, man, wait…”
“Wait for what?” Brett scoffed, cocking the gun, “She was sent to kill Asher and we all know her reputation. She’s the goddamn Merry Murderess, Aleks.”
“No, she’s not. I mean, she is but that’s not all. Put the gun away, dude,” Aleks all but pleaded, eyes wide.
The second man placed a hand on Aleks’ shoulder to draw his attention. “What are you talking about, Aleks? You’re not making any fucking sense,” he said, raising his eyebrows in a questioning manner. Aleks sighed and shook his head as he carded his fingers through his hair. He dropped his sunglasses to the chair in front of him and stared back at you.
“James, man. She’s… she’s Y/N,” he said softly.
While the revelation seemed to make sense to James and he looked back at you nearly flabbergasted, Brett only made an annoyed sound in the back of his throat. “What the hell is that supposed to mean, Aleks? What does it matter what her damn name is? She was going to kill Asher,” he grunted, gesturing at you with his gun. Aleks ignored Brett’s questions and rounded the chair in front of him to step in front of you and crouch down to your level. He locked eyes with you and for a moment it was as if you were both eighteen and fresh faced again.
“If we let you go, we’ll help you get out of your contract and you can join our crew. We can protect you,” he offered in a single breath.
From behind him, both Brett and James made very disgruntled noises in protest to his words. You let out a soft sigh and slowly shook your head as you blinked back at Aleks. “It’s not that easy, and you know it. For how much money that they’ve already paid me, it’s not a simple get out of a contract,” you said with a low, humorless chuckle, “It’s more of a kill or be killed thing at this point.”
“So we kill them, whoever the fuck they are. You act like that’s something we’ve never done before,” he argued, his expression growing slightly more deranged.
Brett’s grunt from behind him finally seemed to catch Aleks’ attention and he looked over his shoulder at the man to his right. “Aleks, what the actual fuck is going on? You can’t just offer to let go the fucking assassin who was hired to fucking murder Asher,” he said through gritted teeth. His hand tightened around the grip of the pistol in his hand and for a moment you were a little worried he would just pull the trigger to lose a bullet in your skull. Aleks very nearly snarled and stood up to his full height before turning around to fully face Brett.
“Look… we can kill her but we know they’ll find someone else to do the job, or we can use her to help us get rid of the assholes who put a hit on Asher,” Aleks explained, shrugging slightly.
James shook his head and rubbed at the back of his neck with a hand, “Aleks, dude, just tell him who she is.”
“Someone better fucking tell me something,” Brett said, his voice raising slightly with each word.
You let out a huff of a breath and tugged uselessly against your binds. “Look… Aleks and I used to run together in a crew back when we were kids on the East Coast. We were… together for a while,” you started, quickly glancing at Aleks before looking back at Brett, “Some shit went down and everyone pretty much fled to their own corners of the Earth. Hell, I haven’t seen him since the night we all ran off. Last I knew, he was in Colorado. But here we are, together again after I took a job to take care of one of your guys.”
There was an uncomfortable silence that settled over the four of you as Brett took in all that your had to say. After a few moments, he slowly lowered his gun and you could feel the tension that you didn’t know you that you were holding release from your shoulders. He locked eyes with you and for what felt like a goddamn lifetime, the two of you held one another’s gaze. “Untie her,” he muttered, motioning to James and then you.
Your eyes widened in surprise as James walked behind you and began cutting at the ropes the were holding you to your chair. Once your hands were free, you brought them in front of you and rubbed at the indents at your wrist to try and expedite the blood flow to your fingers. “Who sent you?” Brett asked, putting away his gun. You took a slow, deep breath and looked between Aleks and Brett before you shrugged a shoulder.
“The Lost MC,” you answered after a moment.
Brett cursed under his breath, “How much did they promise once the job was done?”
“Twenty-five,” you replied, licking your lips.
James finished cutting away at the ropes around your ankles and you let out a sigh of relief as you stretched your legs out in front of you. The telltale tingle of your appendages falling asleep ran up your legs from ankles to knees and you groaned lowly and you bent over to rub at the muscles there. When you looked up again, Aleks was holding out the gun that he had taken from you with an all too familiar smirk tugging at his lips.
“Let’s go get you your money.”
You took in gun in hand and quickly checked it over to make sure that it was in the same condition it was when Aleks had lifted it off of you. When everything checked out, you got to your feet and winced slightly as all of the blood began flowing once again. You looked up and locked eyes with Aleks who was watching you with a slight smirk ghosting over his features. Cocking a single eyebrow at him, you put your gun back in the waist of your pants.
“This is going to be more than a pistol job, dude,” you said, shaking your head, “There’s gonna be a whole lot of guys out there.”
Aleks smirked and slid his sunglasses back onto his face, “Oh, I’ve got you covered.”
He turned around and motioned for you to follow him but made no attempt to look behind to make sure that you were. You glanced at both Brett and James before hurrying off after Aleks who was leading you to a ladder on an inside wall which lead to the top of a small area. He climbed up without a word and you simply followed behind him, knowing it was easier to not question him. He made his way over to a few sizable trunks along a wall and knelt down to pull one of them open.
As you approached, you had to take in a breath of surprise. Within the trunk you could see quite a few grenades, explosives, and, other means of destruction. You crouched down next to Aleks and glanced over at him, letting out a low chuckle. “Still a pyro, I see,” you said, clearly amused. Aleks gave you a look and shook his head slightly as he began to pull out different explosives to stow into a bag he grabbed from beside the trunk.
“As impressed as I am with your collection here, I don’t know if just blowing the place the hell would be the most practical course of action,” you offered to him with a low chuckle.
Aleks only rolled his eyes and closed the trunk. He stood upright and shouldered the bag as he started to make his way back to the ladder. “I’ve got that taken care of too,” he answered as he turned and began to climb down. You followed behind him and found him back on the ground slipping into a room to your left as your feet touched the concrete floor. You sighed and shook your head as you followed his path into the room but stopped almost immediately upon entering.
“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,” you whispered in astonishment.
Every wall in the room held a such wide array of weaponry that made in next to impossible to even see the wall behind them all. You had been proud of your little collection of faithful pieces that you toted around with you but it only paled in comparison to this treasure trove. The sound of Aleks’ laugh was the only thing to draw you out of your stupor. You blinked a few times and shook your head to clear away the fog before looking to the center of the room where Aleks was standing.
“What’s the plan?” Aleks held his arms out to gesture around the room, “Do we go into their compound guns blazing, taking out as many as we can, or do we try and be discrete?”
You raised a single eyebrow, “Aleks, since when has discrete ever been our style?”
His eyes crinkled around the edges and he let out a loud laugh as his left hand wrapped around his middle and his right hand went to his face. You started to slowly walk around the room to take a look at everything that was displayed, occasionally letting out impressed sounds as you passed certain guns. “Even if we don’t do this quietly, I don’t think just charging into the Lost’s base of operations would be the most prudent decision we’ve ever made,” you said, stopping to remove a special carbine rifle.
Aleks watched you carefully and raised his eyebrow curiously, “So, what do you want to do?”
“Get me something of Asher’s,” you said absently, turning the rifle over in your hands with a grin, “I’ll call them, tell them it’s done, and I want to meet for the exchange… then we fight our way out.”
Almost as quickly as he walked out of the room, Aleks walked back in carrying a jacket and a pair of sunglasses, which you almost didn’t notice as you were too busy pulling out some bulletproof vests. When you looked up at Aleks you couldn’t help but smile. Preparing for some stupid, incredibly reckless stunt brought back so many memories that you were beginning to feel giddy inside despite what it was you were getting ready to do.
You stood upright and chuckled as you took the items from Aleks, “Do you think Asher will mind if I shoot this full of holes?”
“We’ll buy him a new one,” he immediately answered.

Word Count: 674Thank you.
With a small sigh, you sat yourself down on the blanket that you had brought with you to the park and leaned back against a tree. Your dog wandered over towards you with a stick toy you’d brought along dangling out of her mouth, and slumped against your legs and got to work happily chewing at the toy. You let out a soft chuckle and reached out with a hand to run over her back once or twice before you grabbed for your backpack to pull out a book.
It had been a particularly difficult week of work and classes and you managed to find a free afternoon that you’d decided to spend at the park with your dog to get out and get some fresh air. You very quickly got sucked into your book, mostly tuning out everyone and everything else going on around you, occasionally you’d reach a hand out to pet down your dog’s back or scratch at her ears but you were both perfectly content to sit there and relax.
From nearby you did manage to hear a few voices that cut through your focus, they sounded like they were arguing. “Dude, dude, fucking stop,” one said rather firmly. Someone else laughed and then there was a third voice speaking up. “Dude, if you’re gonna be a creep and drool over this girl you should just go ask her out,” he explained.
You slowly looked up from your book and glanced around, not immediately seeing anyone but you figured it must be coming from behind you. “I said I wanted to marry her, not date her! Either way, I’m not going to go up to a complete stranger at the park and tell her that,” the first voice said, sounding very agitated at this point.
“We’re not going to start the podcast until you do,” someone replied.
A woman spoke next, “Aleks, stop being an idiot and just go say hi. Bring Mishka. You have a dog, she has a dog.”
You tried to go back to your book and ignore the conversation taking place but before you could get too wrapped up again a slight shadow fell over where you were seated. Your eyes trailed up to see a man with heavily tattooed arms and a backwards black hat on top of bleached blonde hair standing next to you. Your dog perked up and jumped to her feet at seeing a dog at the man’s side, and she cautiously made her way over to sniff at the dog.
“Hi, um, I didn’t want to interrupt you or anything but, well, I just wanted to come over and say hi… so, hi,” he rambled, shifting around slightly.
You chuckled softly and closed your book, “Hi… cute dog.”
“Thanks, her name is Mishka,” he said happily, looking down to where both the dogs were starting to play with each other, “And, my name is Aleks.”
“Y/N,” you said, hauling yourself to your feet, “Nice to meet you Aleks.”
You held a hand out and Aleks took it in his own to shake and you smiled a little at how clammy it felt in your grasp. Aleks looked over his shoulder, presumably at his friends, and then back at you. “So, um, I have to go but I was wondering if maybe I could get your number? We could hang out sometime,” he offered, shrugging a shoulder.
With a grin, you reached into your pocket and pulled out your phone to open up to your contacts. “Here, add yourself and I’ll text you,” you said, smiling up at him. Aleks quickly took the phone from you and typed in his name and number before handing it back. “Cool… well, I’ll talk to you later. C’mon Mish,” he said, tugging slightly on her leash.
As they walked over you selected Aleks’ name to send him a message.
‘I know you said you wanted to marry me and not date me but maybe we could start with drinks and see where it goes.’

The sound of your feet hurtling down the wooden stairs was extraordinarily loud in your ears, the only other sound you could focus on was the pounding of your heart pushing your blood through your veins. When you reached the bottom step and headed into the kitchen, you could hear from upstairs Aleks coming out of the bedroom and following in your footsteps. This was something that you absolutely did not want to do and all you wanted was some space and time alone from him.
Arguing was not something that either of you did well. More often than not you both went of the defensive which would promptly turn ugly and loud. There was a part of your brain just telling you to leave the apartment, get in your car and go. However, both you and Aleks had discussed that that sort of dramatic exit never fixed anything, it just built up for the next argument and you really were trying to get better at having these discussions but sometimes you both were too stubborn for your own good.
“I wasn’t done,” Aleks nearly growled as he entered the open living and kitchen area.
You rolled your eyes and began to fix yourself a drink, “Well I was, so kindly fuck off.”
“God dammit, Y/N!” he shouted, slapping a hand to the countertop, “Could you just shut the fuck up and listen to me for once.”
You allowed your eyes to close and took a deep breath in through your nose. You didn’t want to get angry and say something you’d regret. You slowly reopened your eyes and went back to fixing your drink with your back to Aleks. You could practically feel the heat radiating off of him and you knew that sooner or later he was going to blow.
Deciding it would be best to just tune him out and let him rant, you focused on the task at hand before moving on to making something eat as well. From behind you, Aleks’ voice was raising in volume and you could feel him pacing around. You let it go on for a while until you just couldn’t any longer and whipped around to face him.
“Stop yelling at me, Aleks!”
“Stop being an asshole!”
You froze and stared back at him and he had an equally shocked look on his face. He, however, seemed to recover faster than you and ran a hand over his face with a sigh. “Y/N… I’m sorry. Fuck. It’s just… I hate it when you ignore me like that, it makes me feel like you don’t care and you’d rather be anywhere else than with me. It’s like anything I’m thinking or feeling is stupid and you’re just waiting for me to shut up,” he explained in a soft voice, stepping back a bit to lean against the counter.
Dropping what you were hold, you walked over to where he had folded his arms over his chest and reached out to run your hands over his sides, tugging gently at the hem of his shirt. “Aleks,” you murmured softly, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for you to feel that way. I love you… I just… I needed a break from arguing. I’m sorry.”
Aleks shook his head and dropped his arms to wrap around you, “I’m sorry too.”
16. “I had a nightmare about you, and I wanted to make sure you were alright.” with Aleks Marchant, please?

At first, you’re not entirely sure what it is that wakes you up. You try to press your face further into your pillow and pull your blanket up under your chin, attempting to go back to sleep. Around you, both Mishka and Celia move from where they’re sleeping and slump along your other side in a heap. That is when you realize that your phone vibrating in the sheets was what had disturbed all of you.
Absently, you groped around the blankets until you finally came up with your phone. The bright light of your screen made your eyes squint and you let out an annoyed noise. You adjusted to the sudden light and saw a picture you had taken of Aleks at the beach over the Summer with his contact name “My Little Russian” at the top of the screen. You sigh softly and accept the call as you snuggled back down against the pillows.
“Aleks? It’s two in the morning here,” you say in a sleep rough voice.
He sighs softly, “I’m sorry… I just… How are you?”
“I’m okay,” you say, a little unsure, “Are you?”
There is a bit of silence on the other end of the phone but then you can hear Aleks rustling around as he lets out a slow breath. It sounds for a moment like he just woke up as well. “I had a nightmare about you, and I wanted to know that you were alright,” he answers after a moment. You slowly sit up in your bed and lean back against the headboard, pushing a hand through your hair.
“I’m okay… what was your nightmare about?” you ask softly.
Celia climbs up over Mishka and hops up to curl up in your lap, her tail flicking the air as she settles down. Aleks, on his end of the phone, is quiet and you reach out to gently run a hand down Celia’s back. Finally, Aleks grunts softly in your ear, “I just… you were heading home alone and someone… hurt you and I wasn’t there and I…”
You let out a small sigh and curl up a bit more, pulling Celia up to your chest, “Solntse.”
Aleks chuckles lowly in your ear and you smile slightly to yourself. You had taken it upon yourself to learn a few simple words and phrases in Russian almost a year ago to surprise Aleks and he always sort of laughed when you used pet names on him.
“I’m okay, Aleks, I promise,” you say lowly, “You’re just in Massachusetts for a few more days, then you’ll be back home.”
He hums and sighs, “I know. I just… I wanted to make sure you were alright.”
“Moi sladkiy… I love you,” you say with a smile.
Aleks only chuckles in your ear, “I love you too, liybimaya. I’ll see you when I get home. Try to get some sleep.”
