hi guy who definitely isnt vinny
Practicing with Riley after he his season with the Panthers was everything Chase could ever ask for. There was so much he got to learn about how the NHL worked that their dad refused to tell him and it helped him prepare for his first year in the OHL.
He could see the way Riley's eyes tracked the puck more easily and the teeth in his mouth matched their dad now. It only served to make him more excited to be drafted, maybe he'd even be drafted to the same team.
It was just a routine deke around Riley when Chase felt it. Like eyes piercing at the back of his neck. A burning sensation that suddenly fills him with deep terror. Chase can feel the tips of his fingers tingle as his heart begins to beat faster and he knows Riley is right behind him but what if it isn't Riley and—
"Chase." He turns, his skates nearly giving out under him as he can only stare at the glare in Riley's eyes and the way his teeth seem impossibly sharper now. His stick clatters to the ice below and tears bubble up in his eyes before he can stop it, Riley still inching closer.
Chase's skates catch on the ice as he nearly falls backwards, only being stopped by Riley yanking his arm so hard he feels a pop in his shoulder before the intense pain. He cries out as Riley snarls, the growl coming out of his throat doesn't even sound like a human can make it. There's something in his eyes that doesn't even look human anymore and Chase doesn't know what to do. Riley's still his brother and he's just some 16 year old boy who can barely knock a guy over,
"Riley." They both drop to the ice as Chase looks over to see their dad run onto the ice, practically dragging Riley by the collar away from him. Hot tears stream down his cheeks as his shoulder still hurts so fucking bad. Confusion and fear rushing through his veins so quickly it makes him nauseous.
He tries to push himself closer to Riley, who's nails are digging into their dad's arm so hard it's drawing blood. There's also a towel in his mouth, jaw clenched tight around it. Riley flinches when he sees Chase get closer.
Somehow that hurts more than anything.
