So I have a lot of them (Illusion), but instead of yapping about one of them (Illusion), I'm gonna take this as a chance to yap about these two frickers that I keep thinking about.

(Ruined Reality spoilers tho! It's really late in the series but yeah- I'm also gonna put here that I Do *Not* like InfiniteRinzler but I've gotten attached to the series so I make sure to constantly hc Light as transmasc to flip off Rinzler)

So, somewhere around episode 100 and something, there's a part in Ruined Reality where Light just wanders around with Assistant Steve's decapitated head (He's fiiiinneeee-), and it doesn't last very long so the audience doesn't get bored, but a l s o

How long was Light really just left to search for any life left while drowning in guilt over everyone he knew and loved dying in front of him? How long did Assistant have to go with low battery and being unable to move himself without the help of Light?

I imagine that they were out there for at LEAST a week, if not longer. In that time, they definitely would've bonded, if not from the shared trauma then from having to stick together while both freshly having experienced The Horrors. Assistant (thinks, at least) just saw his creator- his father- die and quite possibly be mangled to death somewhere, and Light- okay rant time

Poor Light not only DIED- he LITERALLY DIED, he fell into lava and only got revived than Origin himself, but he had to fight The Soul Eater head on and won with the power of a god quite literally on his side. He only had about 30 minutes, which we know that he spent trying to relax with his friends instead of healing (like the creature he is), and then in got thrown into another fight. This time, he would've died if it wasn't for the light crystal, but nobody else had that so everyone else got killed. The FIRST THING he sees when he wakes up is this creepy, soul ridden, blue flame thing standing around the corpses of his friends and family, then he has to go get Assistant since he's the last person that Light knows won't attack/kill him, and guess what? Assistant got decapitated but is somehow still alive- b a r e l y.

Even worse, Light has been blaming his friends' deaths on himself since the start. All of this can't be good for him. He is going to think that it's his fault, that he could've done more, that he should've saved them, that he could've stopped this only if he had done more.

So yeah, I think that Extremely Traumatized Light and Decapitated Assistant are a neat duo :]

Annnnd since you gave me hcs, here are my hcs for this duo :]

Light has wool, like a sheep. He tries to keep it shaved down to look "more professional", which he picked up back in his old/original world. During this time of wandering, it gets matted and icky. You cannot convince me this man wouldn't be grimy after all that fighting, nor would he care to take care of himself and even try to shave the wool off.

Because Assistant got so damaged from the fighting, a lot of his protocols got either deleted or are offline. This basically means that he has more freedom to say certain things and is a bit less professional than he used to be. Also he's allowed to swear now :]

I already hc that the orange steves do stuff like sleep in piles together and bathe together, so Light would be CLINGY to Assistant during all that time. This man would hold onto this heavily damaged, barely functioning, head like he would have to witness everyone die again if he let go.

Assistant probably doesn't care that Light is so clingy with him, it's not like he can go anywhere else if he wanted. You cannot convince me that Assistant doesn't actually have emotions. Even if he can't exactly "feel", he definitely can be empathetic or upset. We see him get frustrated so many times, both in RQ and in RR, and I am certain that him making jokes is more than him mimicking the professor

Light is transmasc, so on top of The Horrors of the battles and the Everything, he had to deal with trying to keep his identity a secret. He probably gave up on caring about hiding it while stuck with Assistant, because that robot has no concept of gender anyways, so it doesn't really matter anymore.

They really are the only things keeping each other alive. Light, if he truly was the only one left and was completely alone, already has nothing left to lose, so he'd just give up completely. Practically the only thing he was scared of losing was his friends and the people, and he lost them. Without Assistant there, that guy had lost everything and hate for himself is one of the last strong emotions he has besides guilt. Assistant, being himself, would just deactivate if there was no other option and there was no one left to serve or help.

Light, after fighting for so long and receiving no medical treatment, is definitely injured for this. He couldn't have made it out of all of that without any wounds or broken bones, and we don't see him taking any medical help or healing potions after the fighting, so this guy has been walking around heavily injured on top of all of this. I imagine he has a heavily sprained- very possibly broken- ankle and probably some other sprained bones that he hasn't noticed yet (his mind has been blocking out the pain to deal with all the guilt and emotions from The Horrors) that he's been dealing with.

Light gets EXTREMELY attached to Assistant during this. That thing is all he has left in this world, he'll be damned if he doesn't at least try to keep it with him. He has nothing left to lose, nothing but Assistant, so he'll do everything that he possibly can to try to protect him, it's the only thing left for him to do.
