RP sites should be story first, community second.

Don't get me wrong, a community can make or break an rp site, but when a site is heavy on community but suffering in engaged storytelling it only leads to social gatherings and burned out staff.

And I don't just mean a hotshot plot and setting and site canons, I mean a membership engaged in more than their immediate ic circle, reading threads that are being written by other players, and eager to find out what happens next even when you're own characters aren't involved.

Collaborative storytelling is dying in favor of community-driven 'come and hang out, we're lucky if you post' sites and it's really changing the landscape.

If you're into collaborative storytelling raise your hand. I just want to find my people.
