I love it when I just play the game and I mostly focus on one thing for that day/week and since I only ride one horse at a time, the thing becomes part of their lore.
Like, I was doing the daily quest in Valedale village with the cows (change batteries in their trackers) but I kept running into things and stopping and took me a long time to finish it. So now Eclipse doesn't like cows, and he didn't want to get close to them.
Or when I was exploring the new Hollow Woods and was taking a lot of photos in the water, so now Daybreak loves water.
When I was moving my horses around to organize the stable, Daybreak and Eclipse were next to each other all the time. So now they're best friends.
I used Amethyst to just ride around as a wild horse and also used her to do the secret fox quest, so I made it that she likes to explore the world and since she's not really a horse, but a spirit that takes the form of a horse, she explained it to Phoenix and Phoenix didn't mind her wandering.
Similarly, I used Royalix to ride as a wild horse and now he's an escape artist who likes to get out to go to the arena to jump (loves jumping) or to just wander around.
And I could probably think of more! It's one of my favourite things. Does anyone else do this?
