OPM Royalties celebrate the beauty of love once more in #LOVETHROWBACK 2
By: Denise Villamar and Jamie Ortega
On Valentines Day, 6 of the most celebrated OPM singers in the country were united and treated their fans to an unforgettable Valentine’s Day concert titled #LoveThrowback2 at the PlCC, Plenary Hall, in Pasay City.
After a successful run last year featuring Gino Padilla, Chad Borja, WencyCornejo, Roselle Nava, Nina, Raymond Lauchengco and Rico J. Puno, concert organizer Royal Chimes had once again pulled off another successful night with a new set of singers-- Jinky Vidal, Ariel Rivera, Nina, Christian Bautista, Joey G. and Haji Alejandro.
Jinky Vidal opened the night with her famous hits, “If I Believe”, “One Hello”, and the crowd favorite“So Slow.” Her set was followed by Side A’s lead singer Joey G who performed classic faves “So Many Questions”, and “Tell Me.” To cap off his set, Joey got on the acoustic guitar to perform an awesome rendition of one of their most popular tunes, the 2000 hit song “Forevermore.”
After performing at the first Love Throwback session last year, Nina once again proved why she is the undisputed Soul Siren Of Asia with an impressive performance of “I Love You Goodbye”, “Someday”, and “Love Moves In Mysterious Ways”.
The crowd went a bit giddy as actor and singer Ariel Rivera serenaded them with a heartfelt rendition of “Sana Kahit Minsan” and “Don’t Know What To Do”. The singer even went down the stage and interacted with ladies from the crowd, which made the ladies even more giddy!
Asias Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista was definitely on a mission that night. He tugged at the heartstrings of the brokenhearted and loveless that night by telling the audience that he will perform songs with the intention to make the bitter feel better, and he did just that through his songs“Hands to Heaven, “Colour Everywhere”, and “The Way You Look at Me”.
Before Christian ended his set, Jinky Vidal and the final performer of the night Hajji Alejandro entered the stage and performed the classic, soul-wrenching tune, “Nakapagtataka,” popularized by Hadji’s daughter, Rachel Alejandro.
Hajji Alejandro, dubbed as “Kilabot ng Kolehiyala” revealed during his set that he can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic and sentimental with the songs he performed that night which included “Panakip Butas” and “Tag-Araw Tag Ulan”. Hadji also got the crowd giggling with his anecdotes of how his fans would go crazy over him during his younger years, and judging by the way the audience reacted that night, it became pretty clear that time hadn’t changed a thing- his loyal fans apparently still love him up to now.
Due to another successful event mounted by the concert producer and promoter Royale Chimes, the artists announced that there will be a repeat on May 27! Its definitely gonna be one unforgettable night full of sweet summer lovin’!
