I would like to introduce everyone to the concept of being 'In The Beans':
The other day, Housemate™️ both combined AND misquoted 'you dug your grave now lie in it' and 'opening a can of worms' as 'you opened this can of beans, now lie in it.'
So after a great deal of contracting we reduced it down to being 'in the beans':
'In the beans' (idiom): Agreeing to take on a task, social obligation, or other responsibility that may be potentially unpleasant or tiresome, and then lamenting it being unpleasant or tiresome when the time comes, despite having foreseen those exact consequences; commonly used as a complaint while doing the thing in question.
Example: Agreeing to sort a 5kg jar of jellybeans by color as you quite enjoy sorting things, though you're aware that it may take considerable time and effort. You get halfway through the jar and begin to tire of it, lamenting your original decision. You are now both literally and metaphorically 'in the beans.'
