Discovering Rowher
Finally, i had some time to edit Wes’s first trip.
It was about 3 or 4 weeks after we picked Wes up. I worked long and hard trying to get him to a comfortable state that i felt confident that he would make it up to Rowher Flats. Rowher isnt very flat considering the name. Its an off-road OHV land that has many amazing trails to discover. We didnt leave the staging areas with Wes, we would have probably gotten stuck somewhere. . maybe.. He actually did very very well. Unlike my old bus, he has alot of torque underneath him, but lacks the top speed. Anyways, i went and drove over to pick up Nick, and discovered i had a massive oil leak that all of a sudden developed. I was leaking from all over the place. Turns out my crankcase had a very positive pressure level and the engine was leaking from any orifice that it could. I would soon fix this problem, but at the time being i said fudge it, lets still do this small adventure. And well, this is the highlight of that. It was alot more spectacular than i expected, and a lot more scarier than i expected haha. no one, and i mean NO ONE was around.
However, around 1AM a very suspicious truck pulled through Rowher and was making its rounds through the staging areas. He would park, then turn all his lights off. Then turn his lights back on and head further down to the furtherest staging areas. It was the creepiest thing ever... needless to say, i dont think we will be spending the night up at Rohwer anytime in the future... its a little creepy. Maybe down in one of the off-roading areas. If we could Wes through them! Â
