Life with Fox after you both knew each other from the past of living with Strade. He offers you his home, and you're reluctant to accept, not out of lack of trust, but because it seems too generous. Still he lures you in with activities and dinners. Late night chats that go on for far too long, keeping you over for the night. Just one more night.
You put down your glass and sigh. "Ren, I really should get going."
"One more drink, I hate when our talks end so early."
Your lips purse and you swallow hard. It feels strange, being here with him. As he feeds you, dotes on you, all in his perfect home.
In those years prior, the both of you would be torn to shreds by Strade and you'd bandage his wounds first. You'd brush his hair in the bath and you'd kiss an aching wound. You took care of him.
"I just-"
"Let me take care of you," he whispers your name with such gentleness you can't help but stifle your words.
His hand takes yours and a kiss is placed onto it. With a sigh and a smile, you lean your head against his. Maybe for now, you'll let him do as he pleases.
