What they (roughly) sound like
Personality:
One hard little worker bee. They like being organized, they like having a plan, they like having something to do. In their mind there is always something to do, and if there’s not, they will find something. They’re like a rushing river, just always moving forward to some sort of goal. The past is behind them, they are barely in the present and looking to the future. And I’m not kidding when I say they’re a hard worker. They work very hard, almost as hard as their father. They will pour over countless papers and calculations to see where they need to be, if there’s a way to be more efficient. Half the time they’re not even asked to do this, they just do it. They took to helping run the tribe and trading business like a fish to water (heh, puns.)
This causes them to be a perfectionist at times. Things need to be running up to maximum efficiency, and if it’s not, they will run themselves into the ground trying to make it more efficient. At least, they would do so if not for their friends and family forcing them to care of themself. They are very grateful for them, and it’s why they work as hard as they do. By running the operations and ensuring it’s going smoothly, they take care of them. It’s their way of showing they care even if it’s sort of a double-edged sword.
Very studious. They are an avid reader, as a child it was usually fiction but as they grew older non-fiction became more favoured. Not to say they don’t read fiction, they do, especially when they need a small break from trying to handle everything. But the functioning world fascinates them, and they do enjoy learning small facts here and there ranging from history to biology. On the fiction side they enjoy reading mysteries mainly, they like trying to piece everything together before the book reveals it.
But, like most of their family, they retain a creative side as well. They are quite skilled in the musical side of things, good at singing and playing the flute. As well as writing poetry and short stories in their free time.
When interacting with others, Rowan has a tendency to be short and to the point. But they don’t just have a no nonsense side. They can be very teasing and snarky to those they’re close to. While usually not the cause of mischief, they are very good at going along with and enabling it.
Background:
Rowan is the middle child of the Comerde family, between Isla the youngest and Torin the eldest, with their Earthblood mother Aerin and Tidebound father Bruinen. They live in the lake mostly, rather than in the house, as having more Tidebound features required them to be in the water most times. They grew up alongside their siblings and the other children of the Tidebound tribe who their father ran. They were taught the values of Tidebounds, as well as the values of Earthbloods, growing up to be a healthy balance of both. Before Isla was born, they squabbled and fought quite a bit with Torin, who didn’t want a younger sibling. But after some time and more fights, he came around. Generally grew up in a healthy environment.
As they learned how to read they were found in the library often. In fact it was rare to ever see them outside of it. They were always learning, always curious on how to be better and know more. Their skills in math, while poor at first, quickly grew. And by the time they were 18, they were more than adept at it. They were always a helper, wanting to solve problems. It was often they snuck around at night and saw how tired their father was from the work he did. It inspired them to do more, ease their father’s work schedule somehow.
Once they grew, they figured out how to do so. They went from only helping their parents with chores, to being a mediator for their peers, to learning how to work directly under their father with the trading business and tribe. They made it clear when they turned 18 they wanted to take over for their father the second he could afford to retire. Which, their father agreed to, and between his son who held no interest in being leader, merely support, and his daughter who was more curious about the world outside their tribe, there were no objections in the matter.
Their training started at 19 and began with smaller things at first. Most of their early work consisted of studying trade and helping the tribe, building trust through community work through most of their early twenties. Then, they were introduced to the math of the trading world, how to calculate the numbers of supply. From there, they began to sit in on meetings with suppliers and other various partners, to study how to behave during those meetings, what to discuss and so forth, as well as to provide the numbers. They were also present with Bruinen when he was dealing with bigger matters involving the tribe, at first only to spectate and then to give a second opinion. As they crossed into their late twenties, they were considered official second in command with the tribe, allowed to take over and make independent choices should Bruinen be otherwise busy or not able to at the time. And from their early thirties to present, were given far more command of the trading business. They proved the necessary leadership and socialization skills to meet with partners by themself, and they travel to various parts of Xadia to meet with suppliers and gain more sellers to work under them.
Blind Universe:
Largely, the same as the main, except a disease came in and caught Rowan, and left them blind. Struggling with their sense of identity essentially being stripped from them and feeling more useless than ever, they take a page out of their sister’s book and leaves the lake slightly unexpectedly from their family, travelling in hopes to find either a way to fix their eyesight or just regain their sense of purpose in general again. They’re a listless elf without it.
Other characters that you might see in their rps:
Torin (their older brother)
Aerin (their mother)
Bruinen (their father)
Isla (another muse, their younger sister)
