Scenes from Boulder Park in Chester MA. Located next to route 20, it was built in the 1930s by the civilian conservation corps as a recreation area. So roughly 95 years ago-wow. I actually came here with my family back in the 60s and jumped off the diving board into the pond! It's long gone as you can see in the 6th and 7th pictures as well as the pavilion in the first picture. But the stonework is impressive. The civilian conservation corps (created during the Great Depression by FDR to put people back to work) created many trails and parks in the US. I think they worked on the Appalachian Trail. Locally there's much evidence of their hard work and dedication. A stop at this old abandoned state park is highly recommended.
