There are many at Elsewhere University that will seek control over you with the simple debt of taken food. Ash, if you believe the word of the gambler Ace, is not one of them. Though she asks for nothing in return, as always it is best to leave something in exchange for any goods taken. They say if you take something from the girl who lives on the edge of the Else, in the stubborn cottage by the river, that she will take what is given, no matter what it may be, and turn it into something better. She is gifted with the gift of giving, Ace says with a gleam in his eyes.

There’s a market now, if you frequent the right circles, for the gifts from the girl living on the edge. Favored amongst these hagglers are the ever fresh cakes that they say we’re the first gifts she ever gave (they are wrong of course, the first gift belongs to a small smug cat with far too many eyes). The salesmen will tell you that these cakes are delicious and will never go stale, perfect for emergencies! If you listen to the whispers though you’ll hear there’s a far better use for them than just a starvation staple. They say these things are so powerful, they will even stay the hand of The Traveler themselves. It is for this reason that, unbeknownst to Ash, a small group of wary walkers have stockpiled the delicious little things, and are always eagerly awaiting the next freshly baked batch.
