Hello! I'm reading Roughing and oh boy do I need to shift my perspective :) For context, I'm Italian from Italy and I know actual people called Carmine. But it's such an old-fashioned name that only our seniors citizens have it. It'd be like oh, there's zio Carmine on his bike! and he's a spindly octagenarian pedalling to the bakery to get fresh bread. Or mastro Carmine the old shoemaker who can repair everything. Or don Carmine the priest who baptised you and is now celebrating your wedding 1)
2) so you get pictures when there's baby!you and he still had hair and now there's married!you and he's old and bespectacled and bald... So now to be reading a story where there's a Carmine but he's a smart young sexy adonis is WOW. Took me a second :) Your Carmine is so wonderful and adorable and simply my type of guy that honestly kudos to you for making it up from scratch you queen (and if you see one such Carmine please point him my way!)
3) Anyway the point of this ask was: 1) your book is wonderful; 2) names are a fun; 3) somewhere in Italy there's an Italian person reading your book who absolutely cracked up laughing at the beginning because in my head Carmine is this old guy who was probably a partisan in the Italian civil war and killed nazis and is almost a 100 years old but living the life with his highschool sweatheart. Then I thought your Carmine would kill nazis too and this great equalizer made me see him for himself
? Which was great because your character is amazing like I said and he deserves to be seen and read like the great protagonist he is, beautiful cinnamon roll who really pretends he's not but pppplease he's a sweatheart but don't touch his boy OR ELSE. Also love that his backstory and that he got Sin because honestly that guy needed to relax and chill in every sense of the word and they are perfect together and HONESTLY CAN I SCREAM ABOUT THEM YES I CAN MY LOVELIES MY SQUISHY BABIES HOCKEYSTARS
