OMG you guys, I just learned that medieval Europeans made a version of ketchup from ROTTING FISH and it was called "garum"!! They thought it was a delicacy and used it as a condiment, can you even imagine?! No wonder they had so many health issues back thenwatch full video: https://youtu.be/qa-Zs24pqsI?list=PLjBgcvtYPpOStiXCX1octyb7Li5I4LiXM
OMG you guys, I just found out that medieval ketchup was NOT made from tomatoes like we use today, but from ROTTING FISH!!! They called it "ketchup" or "ke-tsiap" and it was a fermented fish sauce made from salted and rotten anchovies, basically. Like, who would have thought?!?! The recipe was brought back from China by British sailors and was a hit in Europe, can you believe it?!? I mean, I know food trends can be weird, but this is just gross. Anyone else shocked by this?!?!watch full video: https://youtu.be/qa-Zs24pqsI?list=PLjBgcvtYPpOStiXCX1octyb7Li5I4LiXM
