I wanted to do so much for the anniversary this month, but unfortunately, I could do almost none of it.Â
But not to worry! Iâm participating in the Secret Santa ROTG event, and I have quite a few things to post for that next month!Â
Rise of the Guardians was my third largest hyperfocus I ever had, but itâs also the most important one because it inspired me to get into 3D animation. The characters and their worlds are so complex, so original, and so gorgeous. And the concept of having childrenâs fables be actual real spirits of the dead that suffer in isolation because their death was so enveloped in the protection of those younger than them.....? Thatâs unbelievably painful and simultaneously wonderful.Â
And Peter Ramsey, the director of ROTG, who you all now know as the director and Academy-Award winner for Into the Spiderverse, is such a role model. Especially looking at William Joyceâs books.Â
Mr. Joyceâs stuff is incredible and magical too, heâs the one responsible for ROTG happening in the first place. But nearing the last book, the story went all over the place. Canon was breaking, and we wasted a lot of time in Jackâs âhumanâ life which didnât make sense considering what was set up prior.Â
Peter was the one that kept it together, he kept the characters in their molds as they should be. He just directed the movie to where it needed to be in all aspects, and he does such a great job of including all the characters in some way or another, but never truly keeps the full focus off the main character. He just does it so well.Â
Anyway, Iâm rambling again, haha...Â
but ROTG is more important to me than I lot of people realize, and even after 7 years, and a dead fandom, ROTG was so magical for me back then, and it still is to this very day.Â
Iâve simply taken on too many projects this month to get around to it. Otherwise I was thinking of expanding on my ROTGEM crossover with ROTG and SU. But we shall see when I have some free time again!Â
In the meantime, happy ROTG anniversary. Iâll be sure to rewatch the movie tonight!Â
