Walking with my babies, through the forest and down to the river. 🌿🌞💦 Everything was going great... I felt so powerful & beautiful with Zi on my back and Av walking by my side. I didn't bring her leash because she's usually pretty good about staying with me. After a fun day of swimming, we hiked all the way back up through rocks & boulders, up the 10 min trail to the parking lot, when all of sudden (the wild soul + free spirit that she is) Avalon stops, thinks to herself "wait a sec, I'm actually not ready to leave yet..." and sprints full speed all the way back down to the water 😵 so with Z on my back I spent the next half hour hiking all over yelling her name and looking for her. Eventually I found her swimming super far upstream. I lured her in with some smoked salmon I had in my pack, picked her up and carried her down from some rocks she was too scared to jump down from herself, tied some woven branches & leaves together to use as a makeshift leash, and practically dragged her all the way back up. It was a crazy adventure but a great workout!
