Last week I took a walk up to the height of 721m that is Slievenamon in County Tipperary.
In the Suir valley it was a clear day with lots of green in the countryside but on top of the exposed mountain it was a little world of white.
Slievenamon takes its name from the Irish Sliabh na mBan meaning Mountain of the Women, having been the site of a race between several women to win the hand of marriage to Finn or Fionn MacCumhaill, one of Ireland’s great mythological figures.
The top is marked by an ancient stone cairn that on this visit was covered with ice and snow.
I’ve posted a few of the images from this walk here on Tumblr over the past week, it took me several days to get the video made as I had troubles with software.
