Taste Testing

The kitchen is filled with a delightful array of aromas as Mace is blitzing through a variety of new possible recipes for the restaurant. Meanwhile you're at the kitchen island eagerly waiting for him to ask you to taste test. He'd warned you before moving in that you and Curtis would be required to do this for him as part of being roommates. Lucky for you, Mace is an excellent chef.
"Alright, this is a variant on pasta aglioli," he begins, turning to face you with a fork adorned with angel hair pasta. "Let's see how the flavor and texture combinations work."
You don't hesitate to take the bite offered. Despite his need to test, Mace has an incredibly good track record.
"Mmmmm! Mmmmm! Mmmmmmmm!"
"You're not just saying that, right?" Mace smirks.
"You wouldn't trust me as a taste tester if I did that," you counter. "Oh! The aftertaste is especially good!"
"Good," Mace's shoulders relax. Clearly that was the element he was worried about. "Now go ahead and have one of those garlic butter cheese rolls you've been eyeing."
"Oh, no, I couldn't ask for another."
"I know. That's why I'm telling you to have one."
You don't need more of invitation.
"You know what these would go good with?" you mumble around the roll.
"A good drink?" Curtis jokes as he steps into the kitchen, hands still dirty from work.
"Yes!"
"I'll mix us up a little something," Mace promises. "Wash your hands and have a seat so I can get a second opinion on this recipe."
"My pleasure," Curtis winks.
