This concept of rooftop farming is not a new one. Terrace and roof top gardens have been around for decades, and Japan has been the worlds leading national in using neglected space. However nothing of this scale or output has been presented before especially in a city as urban and compacted as Paris.
The hopes for the farm move far beyond just the output of produce. “Pascal Hardy, founder of Agripolis, the urban-farming company at the centre of the project” has been vocal about his hopes for this project to invigorate the Parisian public to become involved in project by offering plots for residents and restaurants serving the produce. The success of the project of could push the growth of this style of sustainable urban planning not only in Paris but world wide.
