Roman

Sexuality HC: He’s bi, but reliable with the ladies.

Gender HC: I see him as unspecified genderqueer -- able to rock any presentation, so he just goes with what he likes.

A ship: THE ONE. THE ONLY. ROMANEO! Aka Pumpkin Spice, I sometimes hear. Partners in crime, partners in life is the way I see it.

BROTP: Like with Flown North, I feel like committed friendship is a prerequisite to the kind of deep relationship Roman and Neo have. In a way, they’re sort of an evil spin on Renora, you know?

NOTP: Rosewick D: I’m just dismayed.

Random HC: Not to impose JJBA brainrot on you undeserving souls, but my HC for Roman’s backstory is approximately the same as Fugo’s. He came from an elite background, but after committing a felony (murder in self-defense?) he was disowned and joined the Vale organized crime network to get by.

General opinion: To this day, Roman is one of my favorite RWBY characters of all time, period. I love his voice, his attitude, his weapon, his design, EVERYTHING. On some level, I’m kind of happy that he died in Volume Three, because I fear that they wouldn’t have known what to do with him against the backdrop of higher stakes if he’d survived and thus give him a much less timely/appropriate death than he deserves later down the line. Since Roman, no other RWBY villain has ever elicited the same adoration from me.

Neo

Sexuality HC: Demipan. Fools of every gender have the audacity to think Neo would date them when they haven’t even gone through soul-bearing life-or-death experiences with her. Pathetic.

Gender HC: Is it possible to be genderqueer if you only ever present as a girl? Well, this girl has done it. Gender is made up, especially when you can effectively shapeshift, but girls are cute, y’know? She likes looking like them.

A ship: See above. Romaneo is one of the few “straight” ships I would fight for. I also kinda like Spicecream in Volume Seven context, but unfortunately, they’re going in the “let’s kill each other” direction rather than the “let’s learn to heal together” one.

BROTP: See above.

NOTP: It’s gonna start to sound like I’m hating on Jaune with all these NOTP takes, considering that I don’t like Silent Knight (Neo x Jaune), but I have a defense, if someone would just kindly drop his name in my ask box >.>

Random HC: Neo Politan’s name isn’t actually Neo Politan. She chose this appearance (or maybe is stuck with it after an accident/trauma?), but not because of the name. Much in the way that Nora had the opportunity to reinvent her identity when she met Ren, Neo chose to stick with this appearance, however mismatched, when Roman nicknamed her after the ice cream. Have I already mentioned how they’re basically just evil Renora? Well, I’ll say it again.

General opinion: I’m not as Neo-crazy as a lot of people in the FNDM are, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love her. Her potential for sweet, tragic romance is what really draws me to her, especially with what clues were dropped in “One Thing.” I just wish that she wasn’t reduced to waifu-bait so often.
