I noticed this parallel a while ago but with the script for 4x16 leaked. Plus all the discussions about Red daughter x Commiecorp. I thought I’d mention it. In s1 Winn watches Kara walk toward the elevator door. Before she leaves she waved good bye to him (and James). This scene is from Winns POV so even though there are other people there the audience knows he’s watching Kara. Up until this point he has had a secret crush on Kara ( which was hinted at) that he hasn’t fully admitted to himself yet. When James asks he says she is just his friend, coworker and his favorite hero. At this point in the show it was established he was her best friend and vice versus. Sound familiar, James then advices him that if he likes her he should tell her. He is nervous she won’t feel the same and James says she’s the girl worth risking it all for. Now paralle that with Red daughters scene in 4x16. Which is from her POV. In the scene we see Red K watch Lena slightly from afar. She then watches Lena walk toward the elevator. This is where the scene contrasts Red K follows Lena into the elevator to persue her. She not only wants to talk to her she needs to. Not only is this scene shot very similarly (with a close up on Red K). Kara and Lena are even standing the same distance away. The story narratives are also very similar. Even though this isn’t actually Kara she has very similar feelings to her. After reading her journal. The way Red k learned about Lena in some ways is even more romantic because it’s all she knows. From her own feelings to Kara’s POV in the journal. They’re first crushes for the both of them. They’re are big differences between the two characters yet these scenes aren’t. This is all supported by how Lex said she had a special interest in Lena. When she only remembers two things one being her sister and the other being Lena what else is this supposed to mean. Plus her love for the Great Gatsby and it’s love story. To then have Lex call it a desire all reads to romance coding.
