Hi there!! I love the simplicity of it? In comparison to the other religions in asoiaf, which are very rich in customs and rituals, and ultimately a lot of constraints, the fact that Northeners basically just pray in silence while sitting in front of some ancient tree is so hardcore. And near and dear to my heart hah.

also the Aesthetic: "a woman heavy with child emerged naked and dripping from the black pool, knelt before the tree, and begged the old gods for a son who would avenge her." I mean, christ on a cracker, that's some Goals right there?? Like, none of the people we see worshipping northern gods know any chill

It's just the closeness to nature, and the way that religion relies on human nature more than anything? You don't get the "word of god", so to speak, a neat lil list of things you ought do and stuff you rather shouldn't, so that's fun, and I love the way that shows in characters like Jon (I love his decision to turn down Winterfell, and the way he sees Ghost as "of the Old Gods")

Also, THE LORE. The Rat Cook!!! Or the Night's King!! Or Bael the Bard (I count those as mysticism bc they *do* have an element of the supernatural in them, but idk if it counts).
