THE ZIRTHDAY
so it was zane’s birthday on the 24th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! i speedran this in two days
this is zane from my rogurt immortals au(that’s not what it’s gonna be called, this is just a placeholder title), where ronin and his friends are all immortals of some kind and may or may not do questionable things to stave off their boredom. zane is on the more sane end of the spectrum, and he hosts his own show where he tries to encourage random machinery to gain sentience. even if it doesn’t work, which is what happens most of the time, he uses his platform to provide comedic entertainment for his robot audience and educate non-robots about robot culture
zane is an “old robot,”(i’ll come up with a better name later) who are characterized by their utilitarian bodies. with some robots, it’s easy to tell what their purpose is, such as a hovering cleaning bot with a mop for an arm or something. with others like zane, it’s not so clear. it’s also considered rude to ask sentient old robots about what they were programmed to do before gaining sentience. at least, it is among more progressive crowds. robot and human relations might be a key part of this story
zane fun facts:
he starts glitching if he gets really mad
he's really tall and bulky. bro could bench press everyone else(except maybe noah or rizz) in a heartbeat
clothes that you have to tug over your body don't work for him, so a lot of the stuff he wears have some sort of clasp to let them close once he puts them on, if that makes sense. basically a lot of items with buttons, zippers, belts etc
he's not really into ronin's whole thing of seeking out uninteresting, "scary" universes to have fun in, but he'll participate cause being together at least makes it funny instead of just mind numbingly boring
Lyrics from "the other side of paradise" by Glass Animals
I've been stuck listening to their "Dreamland", "I Love You So F***ing Much" and "How To Be A Human" Being albums.. although I should get more into "ZABA"
Okay atp im ranting abt one of my fav bands mb
I lowk forgot about Tai- :')
Tai is just there. He exists. No one in the group knows where he came from or how he joined- he just did
He was a transfer/exchange student and boom
Tai also wears a little cone hat :)
uhhh haven't posted in a bit, have some out of context doodles for a Rogurt AU. yeah.

How Did We Get Here? Adrian, he's so silly :D
(lyrics from LOST MEDIA by MonochroMenace)
having thoughts about a Rogurt AU of A Broken Dream, now with some art to accompany it
more art and rambling under the cut
The Immortals AU Rogang Pt. 1: Ronin, Zane, Adrian, and Rizz
aka everyone i've developed so far. also here are some terms you should know for this post:
Droid: what i called an "old robot" in my zane birthday art post. they're identifiable by their utilitarian bodies because they're all built for a specific purpose. for example, a cleaning droid might hover and have a collection of cleaning tools for arms, and a receptionist droid might just be the entire front desk
Android: robots whose appearance clearly emulates a human's, regardless of how scuffed they might look. they usually operate in fields like entertainment, servitude, customer service, etc
Human immortal: in this story, "human" includes homo sapien and other species, like anthropomorphic animals. they all have a respawn symbol on their chest that can't be removed, and their irises turn into respawn symbols when they die. their bodies can completely regenerate after death, though the time this takes depends on severity of injury. they're also more durable than mortal humans and don't require as much food, water, or sleep. they have the ability to create universes, but this power is notoriously difficult to access--let alone master--so most human immortals don't use it. they can also portal between universes.
the Void: the space in between universes where monsters from rogurt's experience videos come from. the monsters don't exist in the Void(unless they're put there); rather, creators take portions of Void and form them into the creatures. it's a quick and easy way to make something vaguely scary. if creators don't put proper boundaries on their universes, those worlds will eventually drop off into the Void. there's a lot of stuff in the Void. a LOT of stuff
Ronin Rogurt
human immortal. at least, he used to be. he's completely mortal now, but don't tell any of his friends. he'll do it. eventually
he's almost always smiling, but even when he isn't, he's rarely being too serious. it's hard to see his eyes underneath those sunglasses. however, he's very easygoing, so you don't have to worry about yourself. maybe you should worry about him, though
he used to work as a night watchman for a bunch of different places. at first, it was because he genuinely needed the job, but it eventually turned into a craving for the adrenaline rush he felt whenever he was being chased or mauled by whatever enemy was there. it helps him feel more alive and less depressed. although, feeling that same high has gotten a lot more difficult over the years, and he craves something even more extreme. surely the threat of permanent death will fix him right up!
Zane Zeta
a droid and effectively immortal. he's a pretty chill guy, and it's not easy to tick him off. but if you do manage to upset him, you might be fucked. has a tendency to be the "protector" of the group, regardless of who's with him
he hosts his own show called Binary Awakenings, where he tries to make ordinary machinery sentient. usually, this doesn't work, but he uses the machine of each episode as a jumping-off point to talk about robot culture, politics, abiology, etc. usually the episodes are prerecorded, but specials are livestreamed
it's not clear what he used to do, and it's quite rude to ask any sentient robot, droid or android, what their purpose was. but, that doesn't stop viewers from speculating behind closed doors:
generic manual labor? that would explain the need for proper hands, though not particularly the tv screen
maybe he hosted a show before he broke away? unlikely for robots to continue carrying out their old purpose after gaining a will of their own, although it has been heard of.
a personal companion? very plausible. the screen lets him have facial expressions, and he does have quite the likeable personality. but you've heard his footsteps, right? why would a companion bot need to be so heavy duty?
Adrian Aseprite
a meld between a droid and an android, and effectively immortal. humans and robots alike call him an abomination, but he doesn't care that much. because his programming was hashed together from two different types of bots, he's pretty scatterbrained and forgetful. he keeps a little notebook on him full of stuff he has to remember.
he also likes bombs and blowing things up. his recipes change a bunch because he gets caught up in the explosions and forgets to write them down. sometimes people commission him to build explosives for them. sometimes they blow up upon reaching the recipient. now, others might think he's stupid, but adrian knows a scumbag when he sees one
it's not clear what adrian used to do either. not even he remembers. but he's extremely attached to this body--despite its flaws--to the point where just the thought of getting a new one can make him break down
Rizz C. Jay
human immortal. partly. the other part is all Void. she uses asl. i haven't fully figured out the reason why she doesn't speak verbally, but it's not related to the void
she might seem aloof and haughty, but don't be fooled. she's just doing her daily aurafarming. bro HAS to look cold asf doing anything and everything. also she's so creative and cunning that she could probably scam the devil in the most embarrassing way possible
rizz loves finding ways to break physics in other peoples' worlds. a favorite "glitch" of hers is finding ways to get to the Void. because of this, she found work as a "bug tester," finding cracks in realities or poor world design and bringing them to clients' notice so they can get patched. her fascination with the Void led to her figuring out a way to harness it for herself. she now uses it to create worlds by pulling things out of it. when used by her, the Void appears as a black hole-like object
one day, she messed with Void a bit too much and accidentally fused with some of it. she can now suck things into the Void, access it whenever she wants, and pull out things that are much, much bigger and more threatening than a bush
donovin, stoneyguy, noah, and tai are coming :]
