Of all the places to find herself in, it had to be a desert. The woman glared up at the sky, because as much as she liked the rays of the sun, it was only when it wasn’t scorching. Her magic swirled unhappily in her body, though at least it provided a cool feeling washing just under her skin.
In the end, Aryn had not wasted anytime seeking out a cave entrance, unwilling to stay for too long under the heat and the occasional flying sand. She found a small rock to sit on, letting out a sigh. Her gaze flickered to the rest of the cave, noticing it continued downward.
Her sensitive ears picked the sound of steps, though there were not all the same, and some were closer. She frowned a little bit, trying to place the closest-
“Oh hell no.” Aryn groaned as the first spider appear from the corner. She gestured with her hand, and a wall of ice formed halfway between her and the spider. It slammed into the sudden obstacle, screeching even as two others spiders appeared. “I’m barely in your territory and I’m not going to be your meal. Now leave me alone.”
That was when Aryn spotted people coming this time, the spiders whirling on them. “For the love of-no you aren’t.” Another gesture as she stood up, the wall melted down, but bolts of ice flew from her hand, hitting the spiders in their back.
As it was, her magic warned them well enough that she was not human, and the three spiders rushed away without paying attention to the newcomer. Aryn, for her part, offered a small smile, though her gaze was wary as she knew he had seen her ice magic.
She just hoped it wasn’t like Camelot.
